Dumb computer question

I'm embarassed to even be asking this

What exactly is "downloading"? If you are looking at someone's vacation pictures on their website and click on a thumbnail, does that download the picture to your computer?

Not a dumb question at all...not everyone can know all about computers. To answer your question, if you look at someone's pictures on a website, it will not download to your computer per se. It will place a temporary internet file on your computer so you can view the picture faster the next time you view it. You can actually download a picture by right mouse-clicking the pictue and then selecting 'Save As' and then place it on your hard drive. I hope this helps. Remember to clean out your temporary internet files periodically to delete the files that are placed on your computer while surfing the net.
