Has ther been any more news about this case. I saw just before christmas the rape charge had been dropped as the victim now says she doesn't know if she was raped, but any news on the other charges?

The last thing I read was that the boys were allowed back in school and back on the lacrosse team. Too bad they can't rehire the Coach that quit over this whole thing.

I heard this too, but the boys weren't sure if they were going to be returning to the Lacrosse team or even that school for that matter. I don't really have an opinion on the matter because I didn't follow the case that closely, but I do believe in college educations and I hope that no matter where the boys go they will continue their education as it is an important thing nowadays.

I think you are both right - last I heard the boys had nt decided whether tey would return to Duke.

I don't feel quite so sorry for the lacrosse coach. It won't hurt my feelings if I am corrected, but I think there was a long-standing issue with the bad behaviors allowed / overlooked by that coach in the past. I mean, come on, those boys should not have been having a party with strippers at the lacrosse house.

Edited to add - the players are still facing charges of kidnapping, and some sexual offense charge.

The prosecuter has also been charged with ethics violations stemming from the handling of this case.

One of the lacrosse players (not one of the three charged) sued Duke, it's pres (Brodhead or something like that), and a poli sci instructor who flunked him for no reason. She was one of the 88 Duke professors that signed some wild statement about the bad evil boys before any of the facts in the case were known (other than those spouted by Nifong; so much for innocent before proven guilty). The school ended up overriding her and giving him a "D", but it was pretty obvious she just did it to punish him for being on the team (she also did the same thing to another player in the class, but he did not sue.) The pleading gives alot of insight into the school dynamics. Also, the one boy with the cell phone records and credit card receipts that prove he was not even at the house when the "event" supposedly occurred gave an interview (Newsweek). He talks about how his brothers, parents and himself have been devastated, that Nifong would not even look at the evidence that would exonerate him. It is a sad situation for all involved.

I just read the accuser changed her story again. She now claims that the events occurred earlier than her previous statements. However, the defense proved with cell phone records she was on the phone at that time. One of the accused was also on the phone during this time.

I see some (more) civil suits on the horizon.
