Dukan diet...

Anyone on this particular diet that would like to talk or give me a heads up on what to expect.

I've been on the program now 2 days - slight headache, but i'm sure that's from my eating habits.
 
I'm on a strict ketogenic diet. If I don't feel like going into what that means, I just say I'm on the low carb Dukan diet. ;) I eat like I'm in the attack phase 24/7; it controls a neuralgia pain pretty effectively for me.

From what I can find on Google Health, in peer-reviewed medical and nutritional journals, the only studies done have found that after 2 years there is no difference between people who've done a low fat diet and those who've done a low carb diet for that time. I think one study found that people on the low carb diet had a higher HDL cholesteral level, which isn't a bad thing. Also, another article suggested that you should take magnesium every day, as this brings your risk of kidney stones from processing all that protein back to normal.

There's a Dukan diet website (not endorsed by the author) that has a LOT of recipes for all phases of the diet; I use this extensively. (I just stick with the attack stuff.)

I find it pretty easy to stick to. When I crave a sugary treat I eat some fat free greek yogurt, ricotta cheese or cottage cheese sweetened with splenda or suck on a sugar free mint. I eat a lot of egg beaters and low-fat cheeses.

It is very strange to go into a restaurant and order a quarter pound burger because I'm "eating healthy" then leave the bun. You learn quickly it's just easier to order sandwiches with the bun and discard it; more than that confuses people.

Oh, oh, oh! Cracker Barrel has a low carb menu. I just discovered this!

I just started this Dukan diet yesterday and finding it pretty good. Slight headache today/tonight.

Carbs kill me. Heavy carbs and I'm ready to take a nap.

Can you give me the website you use for recipes?

I hhad Greek yogurt for the first time today. I'm NOT. a yogurt person and used to have only red velvet cake from yoplait.

I bought chobani today. Non fat plain. Added 1 pkt of trivia with 2 teas. Of sugar free black cherry jello. I was amazed how good it was. I don't like the tanginess of yogurts. But this was doable. I even froze it. Was good.

But not for the first wks. It is the BEST diet I have ever been on and I have been on many. I have 3 more lbs til my goal wt and I'm never hungery cause I eat all the time. Just remember the first 5-11 days depending on what u decide there can be no cheating of any kind. I only went on this to prove it could never ever work to my co-workers. I went from running 1.5 miles ea. day and biking 5 miles to walking 30 minutes-I'm a huge fan. Make sure u get the book. Do not belive everything u read online.

I'm very jealous. Today is day 3. Hopefully headache goes away and it gets easier.

Im rally dreading the yogurt lol lol but I will do it. Rather have that Oreo lol

Still don't understand how u can cheat a few days and lose weight. Wouldn't u jump out of ketosois?

are right online is a bunch of different reviews. One of the Moms at school has the book and wrote down the important stuff.
 
I just have. I look at My Dukan Diary alot, but mostly eat the same things. The tofu pasta is what saved me.

I don't know anything about this diet, but when I read the title, I thought it said "Dunkin Diet" as in Dunkin Donuts. I thought I finally found a diet I could get on board with! :rotfl:
 
The headaches will go away-they r horrible. Tofu pasta is made by house foods and comes in an 8oz bag it's awesome for soups and when u go to stage 2 w/ the vegs. it like pasta and meatballs every other days. It tastes like nothing, but takes on the flavor of what it is put with

Whoops. It isn't Magnesium, it's Potassium that I take every morning to reduce the risk of kidney stones.

I'm not exactly doing Dukan, so don't listen to my advice on a lot; I don't eat tofu or anything like it. I keep my total carbs under 20. I cheated at Disney and had to eat a LOT of ibuprofen to pay for it. (But Boma was soooo worth it!) I thought about having a "normal" meal every week on Saturday night and tried it this past Saturday, but Sunday morning, the pain told me I better just do it on extra special occasions.

You will lose weight fast the first few weeks, then slowly after that. When my weight loss stalled, I found that keeping my caffeine down (one cup of coffee a day) started it back again.

I also have what we call "vegetable" days. Low carb veggies entirely. Things with a net of 2 or 3. Also, if I'm craving sugar, pure rushy sugar and can't hold back, I have one lindt truffle. Just one. The carbs aren't so bad in that, even if the fat content is high.

I plan on eating this way forever, I guess. It's really easy because whenever I'm hungry I eat. I can't eat what everyone else is having, but the desire not to eat ibuprofen like candy every day keeps me strong, and the weight loss pretty much cements the deal! (What I'll do if I'm ever under weight remains a mystery. It's been 25 years since I've been at that weight, so I'll cross that bridge when and if I come to it. :rotfl:)
