wenabre,
That's a good question! I had to think a moment, but our heads were forward, feet were aft. Same with the pull-down-from-the-wall murphy bed. The other two beds, of course, go starboard to port. Our 11-year old daughter really liked the one that comes down from the ceiling, and is like an upper bunk to the sofa below, which flips over to become a regular twin bed. That one was good for our 14-year-old son. Our 17-year-old son had the murphy single bed, which was a bit short for him. (He has a double at home, which I believe is longer than a standard twin.
As everyone says, when the murphy bed is down, you have no access to the veranda, and it is difficult to get in the clothes cabinet. The cabinet is nice and roomy, and was just right for our 3 kids' clothes, but it is difficult to open the 2 doors of the cabinet when the murphy bed is down. We would just push it back up to get pj's out, etc, then put the bed back down as the stateroom host had already done for us.
Hope that helps!
Cherie
