Duggar boys help save little girl's life

I wouldn't have taped it, I know a lot of people that do that kind of thing. I'm glad those boys could help that little girl

I do not understand this either, but I honestly think that many people would have done the same thing. I have no clue what these young men were thinking at the time, but many people have the mind-set that by capturing these type situations on video they are possibly providing helpful documentation. As intrusive as it may be, capturing moments on video is becoming the norm - especially for younger generations - they carry the ability to do so in their pockets 24/7.

I think you are right in your assesment as to why he video taped it and that a lot of other people would have done the same thing. Techonology today is so advanced that a lot of people don't think twice about pulling out their phone to take a picture or a video of something amazing, scary, funny or embaressing. All you have to do is look around at a lot of different sites to see the ubelievably stupid and offensive things that get documented everyday with the use of cell phones. It has almost become second nature to a lot of people.

How did this video first get out? When was it first aired? Was it on the today show? Did he down load it to you tube or sell it to TMZ? Did he give it to a local station or put it on his blog or own website? Did he personally release it or did the police, after her gave it them? Does anyone know? I really hope that he didn't do it himself because that is just sick.

When i took my cpr class ( pre cell phones) many good samaritans get suied by the person they helped and u need to protect yourself so we were told to protect yourself, to always ask the person injured if they wanted your help, if they were responsive or not, always ask. That way any bystanders heard you and your protected. If they video taped it as a precaution fine, but if they did it to put it on the air, shame on them. At this time I will give them the benifit of the doubt

As a precaution to what? They were no longer helping the girl by the time they recorded. The EMT's had taken over.

i do think it was more than the average bear would have done in the same situation. and i'm never one to sing the duggar's praises.

and i have to agree that the videotaping was probably just reflex. the same way people who twitter when horrible things happen. its just reflex for many people who use these objects all the time. does that make any sense?

It is a little strange that Josh took the video but people do strange things in a crisis situation. When I was 14, a friend of mine and I were bowling. A young lady ran in screaming that her friend had just been hit by a car. What did we do? We went outside to see and unfortunately watched this girl die. It was almost like we couldn't look away even though I knew I should've. I'm sure if this had happenend with the current technology available, someone in the crowd would've taped it.

From the footage I saw of Josh and Jon, it looked like Josh wasn't trying to get the little girl in the shot, just the EMT's.

Now, if it ends up on their show, then that would be tacky. Just my 2 cents.

John David took the video.
