Just got my prorated dues letter through the end of 2003.
I was curious as to when they send 2004's dues statement?
Does due amounts change year to year?
If I pay in full is it any cheaper than monthly?
Thanks!

They announce the next year's dues in the notice of the annual meeting which is sent in mid/late November. The actual statements come in late December. If you pay on the first of the month, they change it to the 15th for January only so that they have time to process the new dues.

The dues amounts do change from year to year. I joined in 1999 (BWV) and they went down a little in 2000 & 2001 and went up a little in 2002 & 2003. The increase in 2002 was 10 cents a point, in 2003 18 cents.

They do not charge anything to pay monthly. One advantage to pay in full is if you have a credit card that has rewards, you can charge the full amount in January and get reward points. For monthly payments, they only accept an automatic debit from a bank account, no credit cards.

When I joined in '99, I was told that they actually prefer you to use the monthly payment option.

The only month by month option is a direct debit from your bank account. I suspect they'd prefer this to paying with a credit card in January. We usually get the bill mid December if memory serves.

Bet they wouldn't mind if you used the Disney Visa in January - all that cash up front and no commission or additional billing costs.

DVC must pay a fee for the credit card plus there's always the small chance it'll be charged back if something were to happen.

Doesn't the fee stay with Disney (not DVC) and the interest go to Bank One? I don't understand what you mean by charge back.

typically the credit cards will charge a fee based on the percent of the dollar amount involved. this fee is paid by the business that accepts the CC payments. It's usually around 2-4% depending on contracts and the card involved. AMEX is usually higher which is on reason many companies don't accept AMEX. So if you pay your fee by CC, there is a small charge that comes out of it. I'm sure DVC would prefer the payment up front by a guaranteed item like cashiers check or money order. I doubt that happens very much though. Personal checks can bounce and there are costs there as well.

typically the credit cards will charge a fee. . .
My comment was specifically about the Disney Visa and the fee staying within the Disney domain. I just don't understand your comment about a "charge back."

The fee goes to the card company and not to Disney. I'm sure Disney gets their share up front for the rights to use the name but not any of the percentage. The charge back reference is if there is non payment or a dispute on the charge, there is a very small risk DVC won't get paid.
