DUES Info! - All resorts dues have been released

Things like the doors, cabinets, counters, etc were made out of less durable materials than VGF BPK. I’m thinking higher upfront material costs might be saving maintenance costs down the line? Boardwalk was already having issues with the cheaper type bathrooms cabinets and door damaging each other. Now that’s also explained by planning, but those and some other materials around the room seemed more vulnerable to wear and tear than VGF BPK.
Last time I stayed at BPK I thought some of the wardrobe doors felt quite flimsy. The white door in front of the beverage cooler seemed particularly thin. So it's even worse at Boardwalk, then? I guess these wooden elements are at least cheap to repair?

She says that as a moderator not that she doesn’t care to talk about it imo.
This is now the third time you suggest that I want to have a higher minimum number of nights and the third time I tell you: I don't.
Others have suggested that I assume that’s why she said “some” not “you”

It was and now I’m warning myself and everyone else.

No more discussion about it because it’s included in our budget and it covers the cleaning on check in day for as many reservations that are booked, regardless of who the guest is.

If anyone feels that they want to see the costs for housekeeping done differently, they really should advocate for it with DVC.

I much prefer the pump at the top. I’m a germaphobe and like that I can put a washcloth and not touch the pump.

Yes I just outed more of my crazy 🤪
Ha, we wipe everything in the room with alcohol wipes as soon as we get in. Even inside the drawers. Basically anything we will touch. So don't worry, you're not the only crazy around!

A good ole big box of alcohol wipes live inside my owners locker!!

I don’t do the drawers though…but that’s because I tend to just live out of the suitcase!! I hang up dresses but that is it.

Pivoting back to dues: one of the line items in the ad valorem taxes that we pay is the Orange County Library. The mill rate is .3748. However, Orange County will not let us have a library card. Volusia county (Daytona, New Smyrna area) allows timeshare owners to have library cards. Indian River County (Vero beach) is vague, it just says “property owner. Osceola County (all star resorts are Osceola - but obviously not timeshares) specifically accepts timeshare. So Orange County receives money from all of the timeshares in the district but provides no services in exchange. 🤔 how did they get that deal?

Aulani members pay a substantial fee to be a member of the Ko Olina association with no real benefits associated with it. It's just one of those government things that you pay or you don't get to play.

I view this much differently than paying for a library. Aulani owners do benefit from the association even if it’s in a small way.

That Orange County library card is the key to getting into the “Local Wander” club which gives you access twice a month to free attractions. The attractions are high end like the Dr. Phillips center, Leu Gardens, The Holocaust Museum, The Orlando ballet. Perfect … perfect … for a non park day. 😡 now I’m mad again 😆 Dr.Phillips is doing Moana where an orchestra plays along with the movie.

Just a number. As I said, taking cleaning out of the dues and charge per stay would be my preferred option. Everyone carries their own cost.

I don't. And allowed is the wrong word. I'd suggest removing them from the dues completely. But everyone needs at least one and fewer than one per week doesn't feel right to me so keeping one per week in the dues seems a reasonable alternative.

Luckily not everyone optimises in this way - otherwise dues would be significantly higher than they are.

Who pooped in your Cheerios and upset you this morning? Your tone is pretty combative towards Sandisw as I’m read through the pages on this topic.

I think the library millage rate works out to around 6 cents in our dues per point.

Example: The tax bill was roughly $22,586,000 for Saratoga Springs. The library millage is .03748, which equals $846,636, then divided by the estimated 14 million points owned at SSR comes out to $.0605 per point.

…unless I’m not doing this correctly?

Yes, so $846,636 from Saratoga plus our other properties, plus Hilton and Marriott. That a lot of money … they can cough up a few library cards. 😆 I doubt anyone beside me has even asked them.

I hope you attend the annual condo meeting and ask on our memberships’ behalf 😂

Honestly I don’t feel too bad about kicking in 6 cents per point annually to keep the local library programs afloat. I’d like being included better! But can also live with giving a dollar per trip. There are worse things money gets spent on.

I know we don’t get to say this often, but this isn’t DVC fault 😆 it’s the local Orange County government. I have to go down there and make a stink. Good thing I’m close 👍

Could it be similar to how we pay taxes and such, but are not considered residents?

Maybe you have to be considered one in Orange County?
