Dueling dragons rehab

I was at the park yesterday (Sunday). Painting work was taking place, but I do not know at what percentage of completion. Looks like a brand new ride in parts ;)

I was there yesterday too standing in front of DD from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Maybe we saw each other and didn't know it.

When I was there last Friday, it was great to get a chance to ride it! I noticed something Saturday when it was closed. I stopped by to talk to the team members out front who were there to explain what was going on with the rehab. One had a clicker (counter), they seemed to be clicking it every time someone stopped and asked about the ride!

PS-It was great meeting you on Thursday Bev, I had such a great time last week, I can't wait for October to get here!!

Mike

Yep, I had a clicker on Sunday. It's a rough count of how many people asked about the ride closure. There was a sign out front at the gates, a sign at the Parking booth, a note in the park map, and also an announcement on the website but many people missed the information.

It was great meeting you too, Mike!

I was wondering if there is a chance that work would be completed earlier
the said date?
we will be there 21st thru 26th of may.

It is possible that the refurbishment could be finished a few days early or a few days late Im there May 31- june 5th but the 5th I will be packaging and getting ready to leave

Early opening was answered on page 4 of this thread--The last post.

phamtom--thanks for all the great advice and helping all of us with our planning. We'll look for you outside DD when we're there later this month. Is it still a go for DD to be open Friday May 26? TIA

So far it is still scheduled to be open that weekend. I've only been outside DD two days. Usually I'm inside a nice airconditioned lobby.

Darn, were not gonna be able to ride it and its been a few years! =[

Thanks so much for sharing this info with all of us! DH and I leave next Thursday for a long weekend and he is thrilled that we may get to give this ride another try (we only got to ride once when we visited IoA in October for a very short visit). He was so disappointed when I told him about the rehab...this has definitely made him a happy camper! :goodvibes

Hi All

Just looking for some advice really...

We'll be visiting Orlando for two weeks as of Saturday 20th May and one of the things I want to do is ride the Dueling Dragons (several times!). Reading some posts I've now gathered that the weekend of 26th-29th is Memorial Day Weekend, and the DD's will be open on those days. Is there a best day out of the four to go when it will be quiet(er)?

Thanks in advance!

I would go Friday. It "might" not open until 11:00 AM though so don't despair if it isn't open right at park opening.

Hey phamton

Thanks for such a quick reply!

I hope you dont mind but I just managed to think of another couple of questions...

We haven't actually bought tickets for Universal or Seaworld yet and would like to do Seaworld for one day and perhaps USO and IOA as a day each. What tickets would be the best value when buying in Orlando and is there any particular place to buy from or just at the park on the day. The best value ticket I can see on the website looks like the 4 Park Flexticket.

Also out of the four days from the earlier post, what would be your second choice.

Thanks for all your great help, much appreciated!

EDIT : Just read another post and it says Saturday is the only other DD open day so that might make my second question null and void...

It will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. I'd pick Friday first and, if it isn't possible, then Monday, although Monday will be considerable more crowded than Friday. Avoid Saturday and Sunday if possible.

The best ticket deal is the 2 day ticket online. The two day ticket at the gate costs more. The Flex Ticket is a good deal also.

Dueling Dragons is open today and tomorrow. I posted earlier that it was not supposed to be open this weekend but they were able to open today (Friday) and Saturday.

If DD is scheduled to be open on a certain day, will it open at the same time the park opens, or will it be later in the day?

They try to open at park opening but sometimes they can't open until 11:00. I don't know which days it opens at 11:00 AM. You'll just have to check when you enter the gates on the day you go.

i'm going may 21st, will it be opened then, it's 1 of my favorites and i was dissapointed when i went on my field trip because it wasn't opened

No it won't be open. The 21st is a Sunday. The only Sunday that it will be open is on the Memorial Day weekend.
