After doing internet research - mostly on Teva - and spending time over the last week trying on sandals at Sports Authority and REI - I spent a final 45 minutes today trying on all possible sandals at Sports Authority again before settling on a pair of Nike Santiam III's.

Then I do a search here on DIS and on Nike.com to get some sort of verification that I bought the right thing, only to discover that it's a woman's sandal. And I'm a guy. :rolleyes1

Other than sizing, not sure what the difference is. It seems to fit well - I'm between an 8.5 and 9, and some of the 9 in men's sizes tend to be a bit on the large size. I found them more comfortable than the Straprunner, and the Teva Spoiler III.

Anyway - they look reasonably butch. Just wondering if anybody else, or anyone else's DH has done this with any ill side effects. I think my psyche can handle it as long as nobody tells.

Thanks,
Todd

Thanks Joe. I don't really care - I just thought it was kind of funny, and was curious if anyone else had done the same thing. As it turns out, a little more googling and froogling would seem to indicate that Santiams are also sold in men's sizes, so I may have been ballyhooing about nothing. Maybe Nike just doesn't have any in their online store. It's funny also because I couldn't find any indication in or on the box whether it is a woman's or men's shoe. Maybe it's meant to be a unisex sandal. Regardless, it seems to work for me.

My dad accidentaly bought women's sneakers last Jan. He says they are the most comfy sneakers (he has a narrow foot). They look like men's sneakers. No one has ever come up to him and asked why he's wearing wms sneakers. You can't tell the difference. And those sandals they do tend to look masculine. I have several pairs and I can't say my feet look dainty in any of them. Besides Dude looks like a Lady is one of my faves. Mary

on badshoe.com! Just Kidding. Wear 'em! Trips to Disney are too short and too valuable not to be comfortable. Of course, I'm wearing a very masculine looking pair of Woman's Teva's (and I'm a woman) as we speak. My mom asks me everytime I see her if these are my husband's shoes.

On a side note to that, he's a size 13 mens. I'm a size 7 men. Um..mom do the math.

Nope, never had that trouble since I wear a 11.5 to 12 shoe. Unless I happen to be shopping in a drag queen specialty store and was looking for strappy summer sandals. But that's just too much information.

You know, a few years ago when I was shopping for Straprunners, I kept going to sports stores asking if they had ladies Straprunners and no one did, and then finally one salesguy said it was the same shoe, to just buy it in a smaller size. So I did.

Once those wore out I got the newer model of Straprunners, which were ladies, but I could detect no style or engineering difference. All these shoes are pretty butch, don't worry about it.

What size were the shoes? Did you buy a size 8.5-9? If you did they'd most likely be men's since that would translate to about a 10.5-11 for women's shoes.

I wear an 8.5-9 women's so sometimes I sneak in at a 7 men's - the size will be your hint ;)

if they look unisex - no problem! I won't tell if you won't :)
I have a female friend who wears a 12 wide, or a 10 men's. guess which is easier to find at the mall???? she owns one pair of black heels she had to special order and the rest of her shoes are men's.
