Duct Tape to Prevent Blisters - Crazy Idea?

The think sock liners work great. The key is for them to act like a second skin by being tighter then normal socks.

Also, what sneakers are you wearing? are they breathable?

Duck tape works just as well as moleskin for prevent blisters. Both of them need to be bigger then the area that needs to be protected and the edges of the tape needs to be in the low contact/ friction areas of the foot.

I did the Avon Breast Cancer walk last year and was prone to blisters during training. I found this website which was a life saver!
http://www.fixingyourfeet.com/Taping-for-Blisters.html

I used the Elasticon tape and only had one small blister (where I didn't have the tape!) after 40 miles of walking!

If you wear gym shoes, make sure you have a GOOD pair of shoes. I recommend going to a running store where they can fit the shoe to the way you walk. The shoes run around $100+ but make such a difference. If your feet pronate, you are flat footed, have a high arch etc, they fit the shoe to you.

Also, if you are going to WDW when it is really hot out, I bring an extra pair of socks to change into half way through the day. Makes your feet feel refreshed!

My feet are so sensitive that crocs give them blisters. I haven't tried Duct Tape, but the moleskin works for me. I don't use the body glide on my feet but it does work well for the other chafing issues I have, until it sweats off. In the summer I can get about 4 hours of use from the body glide.

The best advice I have is to break in those shoes, wear them all the time, take long walks in them. It's the only thing that has saved my feet at Disney.

Also don't get a spa pedicure before your trip, you need those callouses!

Moleskin or Molefoam (the more padded version, we prefer this one) for sure!

I second the comment about not getting all your callouses "sanded" off by a spa pedicure before your trip!

Also, I have used duct tape, but not for multiple days in a row. I did the marathon relay at WDW in early January and then the Tinkerbell half at DLR three weeks later. Even with Bodyglide, Wright Socks, etc. I still got some blisters from the first race that were not completely gone before the second race so I fashioned giant "band-aids" out of duct tape. Cut a piece that completely covered the blister area and then stuck it (smooth side out that would be next to blister) to the sticky side of a longer piece of duct tape and slapped that sucker on there. Worked like a charm and I had no trouble with my blisters in the second race. :thumbsup2

And while you DO walk a lot at WDW, you will probably not be covering 13.1 miles in one straight shot, so bodyglide and good socks should probably be enough.

To the person asking about Body Glide & sunscreen...don't put the Body Glide on your fingers, you just roll the Body Glide on (like you roll-on deodorant, only it's on your feet:))...you don't need sunscreen inside your shoes. If you're going swimming or whatever and will have shoes off, put sunscreen on for being barefoot/swimming. Later, when your feet are dry and you're getting ready to put shoes on, re-apply the Body Glide. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the advice :) I will mostly wear crocs flip flops or sandals etc so will need sunscreen. They usually rub on the edges of my feet (friction) or across toes. I guess it's probably best to apply Bodyglide first before feet get moist.
Thanks again :flower3:
