Anyone have an ideas about getting to/from airport???

There are 7 of us....we usually just fo the park-n-fly...but doesn't seem the most economical with this big of a group....would need two cars and we are staying 8 days. Last time it use them, I missed the week special rate by a couple hours due to delays...and they socked it to me.

We are considering a van shuttle or my dad heard about some hotels near airport where you can stay the night before and keep your car there for a week. This las one doesn't sound too back since out plane leaves at 640am.

I googled airport trans and get alotta hints but don't which ones are good and which to steer clear of.

Thanks

I would be interested too, we have the same dilemma, there are 8 of us flying out on the same flight and returning on the same flight and I would hate to have to pay for parking 2 vehicles at the airport. My brother lives close by to the airport, so I guess we could squish into a minivan for the short ride, but transportation via another method would probably be cheaper for the week.

What area would you be coming from. Also what airline are you flying. If northwest you could do the weston park and fly. They usually have rooms for about $100.00(weekend departure) with 8 days of valet parking. You can walk right into the termanal. I always do a Park-n-Fly. Due to my distance from the airport the best shuttle price I have found was $180.00. AAA provide's discount's on some off site parking. Marriott hotel's provide's nice and clean rooms with 8 days parking and shuttle to the airport. I have also tried Ramada but we all voted to not stay there again. The rooms looked clean but just didn't seem clean:confused3 . For my trip in december I'm flying southwest so I will probably do the park-n-fly at the Fairfield or just get dropped off in the morning. Susan

There are a lot of hotels that have park & fly packages. I was actually just popping in to ask if anyone has any recommendations! We're about 2 hours from the airport and with an 8am flight, we just don't want to have to make the drive in the morning.

Airport shuttles are *very* expensive. That was my first/best option, but I just can't justify $250 round trip  when I can get a room and a week's parking for under $100.

I just posted a lengthy hotel summary on another DTW post. If you spend the night pre-flight at Hilton Garden Inn, they offer a number of park & fly days with on site parking for a minimal fee. There are many hotels that offer park and fly packages that make it affordable.

Airlines Parking offers AAA discount and we've found it reasonable.

Thanks for all the great advice!
Looks like there are quite a few Michiganders looking to get out of the cold pretty soon.

We decided to start our vacation a day early and stay at the Westin the Night before out flight. Since we booked with Northwest for $139 we get a room at the terminal, and 8 days valet parking. Our flight leaves at 6:40am so it will be REALLY nice to already be there. I remember how awesome the beds/linen is was the last time we stayed there.:cat:

I think I have enough info to start to get together my pre-trip report.

Everything is falling into place....all I am left stressing about it the Disney resort. I wish they would give actual room assignments before arrival. They do it for the cruise portion of the trip, looks like if you have prepaid you could actually have a room......oh well, I guess I have to have SOMETHING to stress about or would be bored.:rotfl2:
