If we are going to DTD after a day offsite, should we have a reservation for dinner? Or can we just walk around DTD and pick a place to eat? What places are your favorites?

it really depends on the time of year you're going, but overall, i would make an ADR for dinner because the restaurants tend to be very busy at dinner time and have long waits so having an ADR couldn't hurt at all. it's better to have one and then cancel if you need to, rather then not have one at all and wait for an hour or more to be seated. if you want a quick but good bite to eat (sandwiches), you could go to Earl of Sandwich and eat there and when we went last year (in September), the line wasn't too long and we got our food fairly fast.. if you want something more then that though, make an ADR.

When we go to WDW every Feb our plane lands about 4:30 pm so after check in we head to DTD. Our first meal is always at Capt Jacks. We make reservations when we make our other ADR's. If you are on the
DDP you can get a lobster tail as an add on. I don't eat fish but dh does so we both get the lobster tail and he eats them both. Enjoy

I would make an ADR just to be safe, but depending on the time of year and the size of your group you may not need one.

There are several good choices at DTD, but my personal favorite is House of Blues.

it really does all depend. there's been days when I've been able to walk into every resturant there without ADRs and had no problems. But there's also days where an ADR to get a churro would have been nice lol

if you decide to wonder around until something opens up or looks less crowded you could be in for a very long wander.

We went to DTD our first night there and ate at Captain Jacks without an ADR. We only waited about 5 minutes or so. Food was pretty good and DH was thrilled to get a lot of food including lobster tail as part of DDP.

Favorites are Bongos and Portebello Yacht Club. We always just called the morning we were going or stopped by as soon as we got to DTD .
