Hi, I wasn't sure which board I should put this on, I was just wondering....

My 14 ds is a huge music fan, and I told him about the DTD Virgin Mega store. Does anyone know if they inflate prices there the way a lot of things are inflated in touristy areas? My son wants to save a lot of money to shop there, but i want to make sure that he's not going to pay a lot more for what he can order over Barnes and Noble or get at Walmart. Thanks!

There are some things that are more expensive than they need to be, in my opinion, but that's mostly in the book and video game areas. I've found the CDs and DVDs to be really reasonable. Not to mention that there are a lot of sales tables and "specials" throughout the store. You won't see low prices like at Wal-Mart, but it's not totally outrageous either. And, if nothing else, the selection makes up for it. I wouldn't buy the easy to find stuff there, but if you're looking for something that's been hard to find at home, he'll probably find it at Virgin.

IMHO, I can find most of the CDs and DVDs much cheaper at Best Buy. However, if you're looking for an out of print title or an import, expect to pay the higher prices.

I shopped alot at Virgin when I lived there- Most of the stuff I bought was pretty near what I wouldve paid at other stores they had some pretty good deals somedays like the 5 disc disney set for 25 bucks and they had a really pretty good disney section for books (course that killed my budget pretty good)

Virgin stores everywhere are pretty expensive. CDs are a lot cheaper online or at places like Best Buy.

I'd avoid spending money there on music. It's not that they inflate prices because it's a touristy area. They inflate prices there in all their stores.

I'd have him order at Amazon.com or someplace that sells cds for a reasonable cost.

We were there last week, my daughter went to by a CD, but it was $5 more than at home, so she didn't but it.

Well, this has helped a lot!! I will encourage him when we visit to only buy stuff he can't find on-line or at Wally World!
