We will be in Orlando Dec 26-Jan 2. We know the weather may not be great each day, so we are thinking of fun indoor activities. Into the Woods will be out and we'd love to see at at DTD with the dining movies. Can anyone explain how that works? We've never been to a place like that before.

Thanks!

If you go with the Fork & Screen option, it's reserved seating that you select during the ticket purchase process. There are 24 screens at the AMC DTD, but only a limited number of those are Fork & Screen.

The other theaters within the AMC are open seating.

The dine in movie is the ONLY way the DBF and I will go watch a movie now.The DTD theater is separated into two sections Dine-In movies and non Dine-In movies. The non Dine in will be like your typical movie theater. The Dine in Theater though is different, for these it's best to book ahead of time online as the rows are separated into 3 different columns with 4 seats in each row with the middle column/ middle seats going first usually. I'm not a fan of sitting close to the screen so we always go for something that is either 4 row or back closer to the exit. When you go to book the Dine In you pick your seats ahead of time which is one reason why I love it because you aren't needing to get there extremely early for a popular movie. Once seated you look through the menu and order your drinks/ food with your server. You can order anything throughout the duration of the movie though it is advisable to order any large entree items early on. Hope that helps

Dine in is the way to see movies at this AMC. You an easily get a but to DTD from pretty much all the Disney hotels, but not the parks. There is a boat from PO, OKW and SSR.
Parking and congestion at DTD is still very difficult and I would not suggest taking a car.

Another weather possiblity would be DisneyQuest.

We were going to do the dine in during our November trip if weather was bad. We decided to just go to regular seating because of the horrible review about the food so you might want to look into that. I've never tried the food so I personally can't say, but there are many who thought it was bad food for a high price.

Another bad weather option is Splittsville bowling, or resort hopping (especially since there are great holiday decorations in the deluxe resorts).

Note if it rains a lot of other guests will be looking for fun indoor activities so expect crowds.

The food wasn't so bad. Same stuff you might find at the average chain restaurant.

Definitely book your seats/tickets online as soon as you can. We wanted to see Big Hero 6 the other week (normal, not dining) and pretty much everything was sold out that night so we didn't get to do it. My DH and DS8 went to DQ (it was packed), I basically wasted the evening and just walked DS2 back to the resort (Saratoga). Complete waste of an evening because I was too cheap to book in advance that morning.

There is still a lot of congestion with the traffic and construction in DTD, but they just opened the new parking garage and it was tons better over there this trip than it was back in June :thumbsup2
