On our last visit, we stayed at All Star Movies and were very satisfied overall with the resort. I thought the transportation to and from the parks was excellent. We're leaning towards staying at the All Stars again when we visit Disney in November, however, I've seen a lot of really good deals on the internet for what appear to be really nice hotels in downtown Disney. Can anyone tell me about the buses that service the downtown Disney hotels? We will be renting a car, but we really enjoy the convenience of taking busses to and from the parks. Would we be disappointed with the transportation if we stayed downtown?

No I don't think you would. We like to stay at the DTD area, we go to DTD quite often and like the closeness. Most of the hotels offer the transportation to all the parks which in most cases is a better bus than Disney's. They drop off and pick up a little farther away than Disney but the walk is not bad. Also if you stay at a DTD hotel you can always walk to DTD and take the Disney transportation from there. We really enjoy the DTD area.

Have fun.

i agree with goofymom...i've stayed in the DTD area before and loved it! when i was there, pick ups started on the courtyard side and ended with the wyndham side. my only complaint is that sometimes the buses were pretty crowded, but that's true for most buses, even on the disney ones.

have fun!!

I don't know what WDW resort you stayed in - but all the DD share the same bus - so it if slow - they aren't on the WDW transportation system.

the one we stayed at it stopped at 3 more hotels before taking the long way to MK - and I mean long - it was an hour from our hotel to the MK - then it was not the area where the WDW buses stop - it was in the Ticket/Transporation - so then you had to take the monrail or the ferry to get to the MK.

we won't stay here again - unless they are having a great special and then we will stick with the Epcot or Studios the two parks closes to them.

We were just at the Doubletree. We had our own car. The hotel bus only left the hotel about five times a day, compared to every 20-30 minutes from a Disney resort.

I stayed at Wyndham Palace in December and used the bus system with no problems. It was there every 30 minutes like clockwork. It stopped at the other DTD hotels in the morning but in the afternoon it went straight to the parks. I don't know if that is how it always works and I'm sure some days it works better than others but overall I had no complaints. I actually thought the bus service there was better than it was when I stayed at the Contemporary. :)
