DTD Goofy's Candy Shop Caramel Corn Tip!

I normally don't eat CC, but when we visited GCS last June, it looked really good, and you can get a large tub for $4 so I bought one for our drive back to Tx.

My tip is, if you like crunchy caramel corn or Cracker Jack style CC, don't buy Goofy's. It is very soft, chewy and sticky (on the teeth not hands).

I thought it was stale so I returned it and the CM told me they get alot of complaints, but it is because their Caramel Corn is fresh and packaged warm so it never gets crispy like packaged CC.

I have to admit, that was my first time having fresh made CC, but my teeth couldnt take it, so I chose something else.

I guess when you are raised on Cracker Jacks, there's just no appreciating the real thing!! Thought I'd save some other goobers the time!

Sleepy Hollow makes the best caramel corn and it's not sticky. They package it right from the kettle there and it's not gooey. It's very crispy. I always get a bucket to eat in the car on the way home.

Must be the recipe they use at Goofy's or their cooking process.

Oh, thank you for mentioning this....DH loves Carmel Corn!! When we go to Gatlinburg we always have to get a huge bucket from the Karmelkorn shop...we used to have one locally, but it closed about 15 years ago...boohoo! I think this would be a nice treat to buy to have around the villa during our stay.

Hey, if you need a gooey CC fix at home...try the microwave carmel corn by Act II...usually buy it at Walmart...it's very good and gooey!!! It's not quite as good as the stuff in the store, but it's a close second. We were really surprised!!

The same thing happened to me! I bought a bucket from Goofy's last time we were at DTD for the ride home. I didn't try it until we we on the road and I thought it was stale, too. I wound up throwing it away! Very disappointing.
