DTD Balloon

Awesome Pictures!!!

Would hate to have little ones running around on it while I'm on it! :scared1:
Think my DH can go on by himself!

How many can usually go on at a time?

Thanks! :goodvibes

The amount of people depends on the winds/weather.

We only had 5 since the winds were high. I think it can go as many as 15 people at once.

There is a flight engineer person there who keeps crowds control. I don't imagine they will allow a bunch of kids on it at once. It is completely caged in as well. You are only up there for a max of 10 minutes.

Do you need to make advanced reservations for this or is it a step up and buy your ticket kind of thing?

Step up and buy your ticket - no reservations.

I went last Tuesday or maybe it was Wednesday - can't remember right now and we had alot of people our on flight - it had to be at least 15.

It was a very clear day though and the view is awesome.

It's a very smooth ride as well.

Thank you! I can't wait to try it out. :goodvibes

No reservation since it can close at any time due to the winds. If it is temporarily closed; look for a balloon doing the test flights, then wing it over there. :goodvibes

I didn't do it fast enough and was in the 3rd group. Remember, we only had 5 going up at a time.

i have a fear of hieghts but my DBF is very interested in trying this on our trip in august! would I be okay up there or will it be too intense??

Does it rock/shake alot or is it pretty steady?

Here's my picture - it was closed every time I went ....... BUMMER

I don't think it's worth it if you're taking a day at Sea World... thier observation tower is much nicer and fits a lot more people. And I can still point to everything disney - epcot, contemp, that balloon...

I don't know, I think it's a waste at 16$ per person. I mean sea world only charges 3$ for thiers and I thought that was crazy. At least thiers is inside a little cabin, with seats and air conditioning.

And wouldn't you think helium would leak from that thing like crazy?? I mean I worked at party city filling balloons. and no matter what, helium still slowly leaks from just about anything. It probably cost more to run than actually making a profit. Plus it can't go up if winds are gusting more than like 20mpg.

Here's a question - and I'm being serious even if it sounds like humor:

Does anyone that went on this know how they handle weight? What if of the 5 people on the balloon, one weighs more like a country bear, and the other 4 closer to tinkerbell? Just wondering if the passenger area is so sensitive to shifting bodies, then it seems it would be quite sensitive to differing weights. And people come in so many shapes and sizes!

I went on the Seaworld one a few years ago and the plastic windows were so scratched up it was annoying....hopefully this is fixed.

I can't do open air heights; I need something around me. I don't do roller coasters for that reason. :upsidedow

however, I was fine on this flight and really enjoyed it. There is a flight engineer with you and he/she will make sure the flight is steady.

You are something like 400 or 500 feet up and the balloon is completely caged in, so it feels very safe. I don't know about anything leaking, but I doubt Disney would allow a non-safe ride to operate with any potential for hazardous risks.

I think we can safely assume that the material the balloon is made of is quite different from party balloons - there's probably some leakage but not nearly as much as you might think. And there's a big difference between an observation tower and a balloon - the idea is the ride, not just the view from the top. I, for one, can hardly wait until September and my balloon ride.

thought I'd share a couple shots that I took when my girlfriend and I went a couple weeks ago..
