I understand DTD is going thru an expansion. We are going in Feb and plan on going there several times for shopping and dining. With that in mind - how is the parking or how will it be - are there any other places you can park and take a bus ?? Thanks Or possibly a taxi if the parking is that bad ??

try it first.

if it is really bad - just don't come back this trip.

where are you staying - WDW offers transportation from their hotels.

some people use to park at SSR and walk over - but the bridge at SSR is one of the things being works on - so would NOT recommend parking there. This will be happening for at least 2 years.

Thanks -
We will be staying at Windsor Hills - so no transportation available - that is why I was wondering if I could park someplace else and get a bus -. Maybe we will just to have plan on arriving early and having lunch as 2 people I will be with have walking issues. So, no long distance walking for them.

Was there just last week. The parking in the evening was terrible. I arrived at about 630pm. We finally was able to park in the lot near pleasure island raglan road. There was very little handicapped spaces. Very disappointing since there are many lots and many spaces. There were some flashing road signs that indicated if a lot was full. But no one available to direct traffic, so the only thing you could do was go round and round nd round and around some more. We lucked out and got a space bout third row back, not handicapped but close enough.
I hope they,ll address the parking issue because I'd avoid it if you require a handicapped space or would not like to chance walking very far. just my two cents...
Have a great trip.

Thank you - had not thought about POR parking - might try that - we cant stay away from DTD - it is just someplace we have to go to! We will have my mom who is 78 and just recently had health issues and cant walk distances, and my niece who is handicapped. Never had a problem with dropping them off and walking - but - to do that from the opposite end - that will just take forever.

Not sure how you are getting past the gate guard at Port Orleans? Parking at Disney resorts is reserved for guests of that resort and folks that have dining reservations.
You can say you want to explore the resort and you will be given a 3 hour pass. Parking is in front of resort - boat to DTD is in the back of the resort. Still a good distance to hike.
I would suggest you plan your trip to DTD for early in the day - like breakfast if you need a close parking space to the Disney store. The other solution is to take a park bus to a Disney resort and then take the resort bus to DTD. Disney buses are very good with handicap guests. Just be sure you leave enough time to get back to your car before that park closes.

Will parking be bad early in the morning?

My DGD has a 9:05 appointment at BBB on Oct. 31.

You don't have to have a reason just tell them you are there to check out the resort. They don't make you leave after being parked there for 3 hours.

And from where we parked in the lot to where you walk around the side of the main building to get to the boat is not that far at all.

If she is in good enough shape to walk around DTD she can walk from the POR lot to the boat dock just fine.

OP just make sure you get to POR about an hour before you need to be at DTD because you may have to wait through one or two boats before you are able to get on, then you have to stop at POFQ to pick ppl up then the boat trip is about 15/20 minutes to DTD.

If you need to be on the west side of DTD you get off the boat and get in the other line for the shuttle from Marketplace side to West side. Right there at the same boat dock once you get to DTD.

Unless you get to DTD before 11 am the parking situation is almost impossible. Parking at POR is always a breeze.

We just came back from the Mouse and DTD is a MESS. They tell you there is parking somewhere near and they will bus you to DTD.

Park down by DisneyQuest or Pleasure Island and take the water taxi to the MarketPlace. We never had a problem finding a space that way.

Good idea - will definately keep this one in mind - will probably try to just be there early in the morning and just have lunch instead of dinner - but just in case - this would work!
