My DS's 3rd/4th grade team won the championship tournament today! There were 16 teams in his league and they were seeded 6th. They beat the #1 seed yesterday and the #2 seed today.
I guess everyone loves a Cinderella story because they had a lot of people I don't even know rooting for them. Yesterday I think because the #1 team was kind of crazy--practiced 3X a week, when most teams practiced once a week. Today I think we had extra fans because out of 20 points the other team scored, 18 were by one kid--coach's kid. He never passes. Today at the end one of our guys fouled him and he got 3 shots--if he would have made them all he would have tied it up. He missed the first two, and for the last one he just whipped it at the backboard in total anger. He's not a bad kid--but I know some of the other coaches have kids who are great players, and they still encourage team play, passing, etc.
I'm not claiming DS is an all-star--he's the shortest kid on the team in spite of being a 4th grader, and didn't get a point all season--but he is a scrappy little defender and never gives up. He is just starting to grab rebounds and is great at fighting to get a jump ball. And he's so proud!
