After a morning of nerves, 4 additional hours of wait time (emergency surgery of a newborn baby held the OR up), I'm happy to report that all went well.
Kirk was a real hoot when they gave him a 'cocktail' to help relax him before taking him to the OR...kept telling me someone was singing and he was watching the painted butterflies on the ceiling flap their wings.
He said once he got back to the OR and they put the mask on him, everyone talking around him sounded like the teacher from Charlie Brown.
The surgeon was quite pleased, the mass was located directly under the skin and has sent it on to the lab for the biopsy but honestly doesn't expect it to be anything.
Thanks for all the pixie dust and good wishes.

Glad to hear that everything had gone well. He must have had some pretty good stuff to make him think like that
.
I'm glad Kirk came through it all so well.
