Ok hard to believe we have never been universal :lmao: and are planning a vacation in Nov. 2007 for 10 days (for our third time). I can't decide what to do. We want to go to Disney at least 3 days MK, AK, MGM plus water park and Disney Quest. It seems like the price for disney tickets are the same for 3 or 7 days at disney. Talk me into going to univeral too. My DSs are 8 and 12 and are not big on roller coasters except for ThM and SpM at MK. Would it be worth it for us to go? Thanks in advance.:thumbsup2 My first post on universal site.

You have sons. You need to go to Universal. Universal is about superheroes and dragons and dinosaurs and comic books and mummies and terminators and gory make-up and shooting aliens and burned up sharks and farting ogres. You gotta go!!!!

I have two boys, ages 7 and 11, and they both love Universal. We are about to go down for our 4th trip. The oldest loves all of the big thrill rides and the youngest really enjoys all of the excellent play areas at Universal.

I could not have said that better! Can we make this reply a sticky? :lmao:
But, seriously the age of your boys would be ideal for a first visit to Universal. There is only one thing to fear and that would be they may never want to return to Disney after. My boys are so hooked on Universal and IOA!
Welcome to The Universal side of the boards! :welcome:

Great post damo LOL

Our first trip to USO was in 2001. The only one who really wanted to go was DS who was 11. We did WDW the yr before and loved it. Couldn't imagine liking WDW any where near as much. Well we've been back to WDW 1 time since then and USO about 7-8 times.

Somehow somewhere someone said USO was "just" coaster and it stuck. The only big coasters are Hulk and Dueling Dragons. Some might consider ROTM a "big" coaster but by 9 DD and coaster chicken DH love it. However,if your boys (probably jsut the oldest would be tall enough) are up to trying a "big" coaster, Hulk is a great first inverted coaster IMHO.

Thanks Damo:lmao: :lmao: Sounds like my boys will love it.:thumbsup2

They will! We always do both USO and WDW. Just got back from a 12 day trip yesterday.

Here's a parting shot of my boys leaving IOA:

My boys also LOVE Spiderman and Bluto's Bilge Barge Rats. SM is very unique and BBBR is like Kali River Rapids at AK. Your kids would also love Jurassic Park River Adventure.
ds10 and I went on IH 4 times in a row, it's soooo smooooth and doesnt' beat up your head like Space Mountain. Best roller coaster ever.
Best advice: Stay Onsite. Your room key is unlimited FastPass. Once you try it, you'll never stay off-site again. It really is worth the $$!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the great advise. I guess now I have to start researching USO. I know nothing.:rotfl2: Where would you suggest I start? :surfweb:

read some of the stickies in both forums. from there, some of your questions will be answered and more questions will come to mind.

you live the adventure when you are at universal.

you won't get tired out as it is not huge like disney is laid out.
hotels on site are minutes away from the parks so you can have some family down time to relax.

you can pool hop. you can do the dive in movies at the pools.

you will have so much fun with your sons at universal.
the characters come to life and it will wow you.

We went to US/IOA last year for the first time last year and my boys DH, DS 4+6 loved it. We went 3 days Disney and 2 days US last year and hubby said he wanted to go and stay onsite for front of line access. This year we are doing 3 days US, 1 day Disney, 2 days Disney water parks, because the liked US so much. This year"s vacation will be more budget friendly as we only have 1 disney and 3 pluses left on our park hoppers, and tickets to US are so much cheaper.
