Best wishes and pixie dust sent your way. I hope all goes well. Our DNiece had a similar thing happen last year, she lost her finger above the joint (right below nail) when driver of the car she was in shut the automatic window in the back seat she had her hand resting on... OUCH! The surgery went well and you can hardly tell now... Kids are so resliant aren't they? I'd be the biggest baby.

Update us when you can, I'm pulling for you both! ::yes::

Oh your poor son.:( My deepest best wishes and prayers for your son. Hope his surgery is going well. I will keep him in my thoughts.

Ouch! Just said a prayer that the surgery turned out well. Please let us know how Baby David is doing.

Your family are in my prayers. I hope the surgery goes well and he is back home very soon. My DD got her thumb caught in a camper door just a couple of months ago but thankfully she only lost her thumb nail. It could have been so much worse. I know the pain you are feeling for your DS....if I could have taken the pain away from my DD I would have....I'm sure you feel the same way. I hate seeing kids in so much pain. God Bless you and your family and he is watching over David!!

Merry

Prayers for Baby David on the way..

My DD had the top of her thumb severed in a "door" incident when she was about 18 months old and it was holding on by a thread.. Ditto for my older DD Index finger), but in her case she stuck her finger in a spinning bicycle chain.. Baby David will be fine - just love him to pieces during his recovery!! ::yes::

Oh the poor, kid! I hope the surgery went well and the recovery is a quick process.

Dave,

Reading this post gave me the chills.

When I was 13, I was asked to babysit for 2 kids, one was 3 and one was 7. A parent of a friend of the 7 yo dropped off two more 7 yo kids into my charge. I didn't know better to say no because it was a "parent".

Long story short, the 3 YO put his finger in the door crack and one of the 7 YO's slammed the door. The tip of his finger came off and there was blood everywhere. I went into a sheer panic. I called 911 and was hyperventilating. I didn't know what to do with the kid as he was screaming his head off. I did cover his finger eventually to try and stop the bleeding, but I do admit that at first I had him at the sink washing it off (horrible, I know. I didn't know what to do). I was able to find the tip of his finger (it was so tiny, and severed right under the nail) and I put it on ice. The ambulance came and took him away. I was in severe shock as i'm sure the little boy was.

A few days later, I was allowed to visit him (he was sleeping, heavily medicated, and had his finger in a sling).

Still to this day I have nightmares about this and I DON'T ALLOW anyone to play with doors when there are kids around nor do I allow any kids to play or slam doors. My DS knows he's not allowed to play with doors under any circumstances. This moment changed my life, for the worse. THe family moved away about a year later and this was now 20 years ago. I still think that there is some 23 year old around with a reattached finger and I blame myself even though I know the kids were just playing and I was put in charge of children I shouldn't have been. It haunts me all the time.

Prayers to you and your little boy. Please keep us updated.

Poor little guy. :( Sending out good thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery.

This reminds me of when my son was 4. To make a long story short, he tripped over a pallet of games at ToysRUs and ended up getting a huge rusty nail lodged between his eyeball and browbone. I was totally hysterical and yet, I think he handled it better than I did! Kids that age are amaziingly resilient.
