DS2 is 4, should I plan on stroller?

Intrigued by the negativity surrounding the Sit n Stand. Can you elaborate?

Too difficult to push in the crowds, too long to control, bulky when folded. I personally don't think 1 or 2 are true for me. 3 is unavoidable but we'll work hard to keep it under control on the bus.

Thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2 I will have to take mine for a test run before bringing it for my 3 month old and 5 year old in November.

My little dd was 4 on her first trip. Girlfriend hated the stroller in regular life ;) but at Disney there was so much walking that she was pretty happy to ride.

eta: We rented a stroller at the park. We waited until we needed it to rent it.

Our DD will be just shy of 5 on our Nov trip and I wouldn't think of going without the stoller. Our Britax makes a nice little hub for her to relax in and it is much easier to keep her dry riding in there (with the rain cover) than walking in a rain jacket. My niece is 7 and she still sneaks in every once in a while. Even for active kids, the heat and walking adds up. Heck, I wish I could ride sometimes.

While we don't use a stroller very often, it is very good for avoiding exhaustion in our 4 year old, and secondly, if we have to get somewhere quickly we use it to avoid our DS being distracted and running off along the way.

You are more likely to need it at EPCOT and at AK because there can be a lot of walking between attractions. WS is a very large area. We didn't have a stroller for DD5 (because DH felt strongly she was too old), but I really wished I'd had one.

Seriously, I saw a grown mother sitting in a chicco lite way today at our local amusement park. I guess everyone needs a break sometimes!! :rotfl2:

If your 4 yr old at all takes naps, even occasionally, bring it. I find that our kids get very tired from the amount of walking, and the heat. It will give him a chance to take a break going to and fro and wont make him so cranky. That all hinges on if he will ride in it of course. lol

We have been taking our sit-n-stand the for years now, and our DD(10) will still sit in it occasionally to take a break. We rarely have any issues in the crowd or on buses, as a matter of fact if we want to get to point B quicker, I will tell them (at least the youngest) to get in because DW and I can walk much faster. Plus the advantage of all that extra storage is a big plus. It's not like a double stroller, that are looong or wide and since I am the one that has to fold it and carry it I have to say it is not difficult at all. Here is all that matters to DW and I, at the end of the night(were talking park closing) and after a full day at the parks, our DDs are not the ones having a melt down because they are too tired:) But like PPs have mentioned, if they do not want to ride then there is nothing much you can do.

We took 4 kids, ages 4 (almost 5) 6, 8 and 9 and did not bring a stroller and had no problems with them making it through the parks. However, at home these kids were used to walking (skipping, running) a few miles to the local park or shopping so they weren't exactly walking adverse.

Definitely take it! Their little legs can still only take so much! It's one thing to play all day at home or go on a shopping trip-it's another thing to log Disney miles. (We averaged about 5 miles a day on this last trip, and that was half to 3/4 days, not even close to open-close days. Bring it especially if you are planning on long days. I just went with a 6 year old who really needed one. If it were socially acceptable, I would've been in one too.

How does your child handle visits to the mall, zoo or other places that require a lot of walking? We decided against bring a stroller for our DD6 last year and we ended up renting 4 of out of the 6 park days! She was just too exhausted. Plus, strollers are great for holding all your stuff!

When we went last October, DD2 was 4 years old and we rented a stroller. I am glad we did!! She rode in it a lot and even napped in it during a couple of the longer days at the parks.

My 4 yo wanted to ride in the stroller with her lil sis so we brought a double last time. She really appreciated having a place to sit down.

Depending on their height/weight, the other two might want a ride now and then too. There are several companies that rent out those City Double strollers. They're super easy to push/maneuver and even if the kids aren't always tired, it allows you to say 'hop in' and move quickly if you need to. :D

We are headed end of Sept, 4 Adults - We are taking my parents- and our 3 children. DD-8, DS1-6, DS2-4..would be 5 in December. We have not used a stroller in years, but not sure if I should plan to bring one for him. I absolutely don't want to be stuck carrying him since he is 43" and 40lbs!! Any input would be great, personal experiences etc! Thanks!!

We are renting one from Orlando stroller for $70/week with rain cover. My son is 5 and I am not able to carry him around when he gets tired. Plus we stay at the parks for long days without taking a break. Even our 9 year old gets tired and will jump in a stroller for while, she even took a nap in one. You could see hoe the child does and them rent one in the park if it becomes a concern. Our first trip to Disney we had no idea what to expect and for our 3 and 5 year old we rented a double they were tired of walking so much. We gear up our walks at home before we make a trip to get them used to walking too.

Definitely bring the stroller. Both of my kids have hated strollers since they started walking but on our last trip DS3 and DD5 both rode in strollers with no issues. It really is alot of walking- even being in the strollers for most of the walking we did, they were both exhausted by the end of the day.

I believe we may end up renting. After discussing with DH our youngest has horrible growing pains, so this may be a necessity at that time, our DS (age6) is the same size as his little brother and would also get good use out of one. So we figured the best option is to rent a double since buying a double right now just doesn't make sense.

Yes! So much better to bring it and not need it than to not bring it and need it!
