We will be going to WDW in Dec using the DDP. DS will be 14 months old when we travel. So far we know he is allergic/sensitive to soy, milk, avacado, and oatmeal. I am suspicious of barley, and carrot. So far wheat seems to be ok. My other son had a milk/soy allegy too, but outgrew it by this age. So, I had been hoping the same would be true. But, unfortunately, this baby has had some real struggles with food. We're still in a phase of slowly introducing new foods. He loves pasta (plain), chicken, beef, bacon, potatoes, apples, peaches, bananas. I make all of his food, we don't use any packaged baby food. He still takes 24-32 ounces of his Rx formula, so I'm not concerned about his nutrician as much as I am the social aspect of mealtime and him being able to eat with us at the table.

I know how wonderful the chefs can be. My other DS has a peanut/treenut allergy and the chefs were wonderful during our last two trips.

My question is regarding the baby. What can I expect as far as help feeding him if we are on the dining plan? I know he can eat off of my plate, but given his sensitivies, I need his food to be very simple, one or only two ingredients at most. We are more than willing to pay out of pocket, but how far is reasonable to expect the chef to go to help us. Would they grill him a hamburger patty, or cook just a piece of chicken plain, or boil a small amount of pasta or a small potato? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jen

I have no doubt they will do something small for you at TS locations.
The issue I see is if you go to a place where you buy plates of food (not a buffet or fixed price) they will probably make you buy him food. When DS was 1 they made him his own plate at buffets and CRT even though he was free. Your list is fairly short so you should do fine. How much does he like rice? This last trip, my DS had waffles or chicken, rice and broccoli almost everywhere. (not for lack of options, it's what he wanted and was quick and easy)

Plan out in advance what quick service locations you will be at, because some can't accommodate certain allergies. I don't know how sensitive his soy allergy is, but some amount of soy is going to be in pretty much anything breaded that isn't the allergy bread and will likely be a cross contamination risk with anything fried unless you go to a place with a dedicated fryer.

Keep your eyes really open about the avocado, oatmeal, barley and carrot because they are not as common allergens and the chefs sometimes get so excited to serve you "allergy friendly" food they will not notice those ARE in the allergy substitute. My DS had special cookies for wheat/soy/egg/dairy and about a dozen times was given ones with buckwheat, one of his uncommon allergies.

Thank you for the information and experience.

Is there somewhere where I can find what allegies the CS locations can accommodate?

Thanks

I've been doing a lot of reading/research this afternoon and will try to bring as much of his food as possible... Now to figure out getting food/cooler thru the TSA security. But that's a discussion for another board. ;)

Specific questions...

- What type of oil do they use for french fries?
- is the sorbet dairy free and soy free?
- is the turkey leg soy free?
- are the hamburger patties 100% beef, no fillers?
- what are the allergy concerns with the chicken nuggets?

Thanks
