DS turning 3 during trip, calling him 2 to book a king room?

We're looking to stay at POR during a week when DS will turn 3 years old. I notice that if I identify him as a 3 year old, we can only book rooms with queens. If I identify him as 2, we can book a room with a king bed. The king bed rooms are capacity restricted to only 2 adults and kids under 3 years old,it seems.

When we travel with DS, DH and I usually just tuck him between us in a king-sized bed, DS doesn't fall out of bed or get scared/disoriented in new surroundings. I'd rather not try to make the two queen bed thing work if I can avoid it.

So, I guess I don't see any reason why it would matter to WDW if I call DS 2 so that I can book a king room, do you? He will be 2 when we arrive. Plan to buy park tickets separately from the room, not trying to get a cheaper package by calling him 2, just trying to get a room with a king bed.

Thoughts? Will this work?

If he's two at the start of your trip, then WDW considers him to be two for the entire duration of your trip. So, go ahead and book the king room.

I think you do not have to get him a ticket either, if he is 2 at the start of the trip.

I've thought about this, I don't want to feel like I'm "cheating," kwim? Right now we're thinking about getting him a ticket for the days when he'll be 3. I'm more likely to do this because there's a clear financial impact on claiming him as 2 after he turns 3, but I don't see why it would make a difference with the room.

You aren't cheating. When a child has a birthday in the middle of a trip, Disney rules are that they are considered the original age for the entire trip.

Sorry, I should have explained more. It is a Disney policy, not cheating. Same with if your child is 9 at the beginning of the trip and turns 10 during, they can still have a child ticket and child dining.

You wouldn't be cheating. That's Disney policy - they don't change a child's age during the stay. That applies to tickets, dining plans, room occupancy and anything else age-related. If you try to buy a ticket for him, they will tell you you don't need to.
