I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed a decline in the quality of clothing at DS now that Children's Place took over? DD has a couple of swim suits from last year. They made it through 3 months of summer camp and a year so swim lessons. I picked up the Kim Possible bikini this year. The applique is already coming off. I also noticed the zip up sweatshirts seem to be much thinner this year. Anynone else with problems?

Unfortunately, I have always thought the Disney Store/ WDW in general didn't sell quality, lasting merchandise. I have had pjs for my girls that shoulder straps - not spaghetti straps either - tore off, elastic broke, hems came undone, too much shrinkage, tons of problems with their pjs and clothing - toys too. I was never impressed with their quality. If they are having fabulous deals, I might buy - but only then. I know the stuff will not last long at all.

At WDW, I have had sooooo many purchases just break/fall apart/paint peel.....you name it - I keep buying the Minnie Mouse charm for my dog's collar every trip as they keep breaking (metal!)......I bought a charm bracelet in May and by the end of my trip a silver charm had broken. I don't do a lot of souvie shopping there anymore. ;)

Yep, I've noticed that as well. I bought my boys pj pals and the waistbands were stretched to the point of not being wearable after they wore them just a couple of times. I'll buy their things on clearance, really good sales, but I wouldn't pay full price for them. I do like they're smaller items like pens and toy cell phones for stocking stuffers and Easter baskets, though.

I have purchased some things for the boys from TCP but I have always thought that their stuff was lower quality than Baby Gap/OldNavy and doesn't hold up very well. :sad2:

I have had some bad luck with the appliques and the towels over the past two years. the towels start to unravel and the the appliques fall off. I just bought dd a dress from there with a iron on of ariel that is already starting to come off! Im going to have dh super glue it back on. granted I never will pay full price for their stuff but it still makes me mad.

Exactly our experience with the PJ Pals. I guess it started with the 2004 fall line. DD got a pair of the Jo Jo Circus pjs and they fell off her waist after one wash. Luckily, Granny was able to fix them but I haven't bought any PJ pals since. My sister had the same luck with the Incredibles ones for her two sons.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the PJ Pals are not the best quality. It kills me that I spent the 2/$20 on them from TDS about a month & 1/2 ago--never again.

I did buy the long sleeved fleece PJs from the recent sale, hope those are better.

The other thing I have noticed about Disney merchandise (from TDS & WDW) is that the women's shirts seem to shrink vertically so they are always way too short on my but are also big at the waist. I don't know if it is just me or what but I hate that!

I was told that the items they are selling now is still stuff that was purchased from vendors when Disney owned the store. TCP venders should have their merchandise in for the Christmas season.

I have been to 2 Disney stores and have gotten the same response.

If you notice they still haven't gotten the PJs tops to match the bottoms size-wise = still old stock....

I have the Jo Jo one and they did the same thing. I bought a Tinkerbell pair at the same time and they are fine.

We also own a princess pair that is at least a year older than the others and they are perfect.

We had the same issue with boys pj waistbands. They are pretty cheap, though. I'd rather pay more for something that will last.

I bought the kim possible bathing suit for my dd a couple of weeks ago, and she didn't even wear it and the applique was peeling around the sides. I don't mind buying the pj pals - I got them for 7.99 a couple of weeks ago and my dd's wear them constantly and I've had some for a couple of years now and they are still pretty good.

No problem with the PJ Pals but we got one of the terry bathing suit coverups and the first time I washed it the thing pilled and faded so bad it looked like it was at least 3 years old:(

Most of the merchandise at DS is still what Disney purchased before the sale. We are just starting to get some things in that TCP ordered. Look at the price tag. You will see that they are different. New product has a mickey icon in a circle with "Disney Store" on the back of the price tag. Price points on many items are also lower. For example, backpacks are $14.50. Last year they were $19.50.

I haven't bought anything from TDS, but shop at The Children's Place. I have always found there stuff to be very good quality. I have 3 boys and the youngest wore clothes that were passed down from the oldest and TCP clothes still looked great. when they have sales, I find that they are high quality for a decent price.

Last year, I bought DD the princess tankini suit & it wasn't long before the princesses started peeling off. This year, after it was wet, I just scraped it w/my fingers & took off the whole pic. Now it's just a cute blue suit w/pink ties. It was a little annoying as I thought it should have held up better but the suit itself is still in pretty good shape.
