This morning my youngest DS has his 1st grade orientation. His Daddy & I are going with him and I'm hoping I don't blubber all over the place. Then on Tuesday I'll walk him to school but he'll stay by himself. I'm not sure I'm ready for him to go to 1st grade yet............

My baby goes to 1st grade this year. It will be the first time in 10 1/2 years that I don't have any kids home with me during the day. It's just the strangest thing watching them all grow up so fast.

I know how you feel. DD #2 goes off to first grade on Sept. 5!! She is changing schools (because we are moving but in the same town) and is very sad about leaving her friends. My heart is breaking for her!!

My baby started 1st grade 2 weeks ago. He's been a big boy going to class, I haven't blubbered yet. His favorite thing so far this year is getting into trouble. I think he has a crush on his teacher, and wants her attention.

Oh I feel for you! My DD starts first grade too this year and I am dreading it! I just can't imagine her being gone from 8:30 till almost 4, 5 days a week! Plus DS will be in preschool 3 days.....
This has been a great summer I hate to see it end!

Lars....my twins start a week from this coming Wednesday...the horrible thing is I will miss it. For the first time ever their school and mine start on the same day I will miss their first day and am totally devastated!!!

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone
This morning went really well. His teacher was wonderful, we all really liked her & there is a boy in his class that he knows from kindergarden. We finished getting all his school supplies tonight and hopefully he won't always be as nervous as he was this morning.
Tuesday will be the teary day for me when I walk him over and leave him there I'm gonna try to be tough, really I will....

When Dylan started preschool the only thing that made him willing to stay was a watch. Believe it or not he and I went to Target and bought a "cool" red watch that wasn't digital. He wore it everyday and I showed him where the hands would be when I would come back for him & assured him I would ALWAYS come back for him. The first few days he just kept watching the watch but he didn't cry anymore and after about 2 days he was enjoying school so much he only glanced at the watch sometimes but he insisted on wearing it everyday. I also would let him stick something small of mine in his pocket at first too & that helped.
Do you know any of the kids that will be in her class yet? Maybe you could have someone over before school starts to play?

Oh gosh - I remember those days and I feel your pain.. It's that gut feeling that no one can take care of your baby as well as you can - what if he forgets his lunch money - what if the teacher doesn't like him - what if the other KIDS don't like him - what if they make fun of his clothes - and on and on and on......

He'll be fine - YOU won't - ha!!!! Have a good hard cry and get it over with - you'll feel much better..

Am I the only one that is jumping for joy that my DS starts 1st grade on Tuesday??? It's been a long summer & I can't wait for him to get back into a routine & make new friends. (He's transferring from a different school.) Due to him taking the bus, he'll be gone from about 730a till about 4p but I'm sure I'll find ways to keep busy. It will seem strange though not having him underfoot, but I'm very happy that he'll be with kids his own age, & will hopefully grow academically & spiritually. Actually, my biggest concern will be if he eats his lunch! He'll probably throw it in the trash as soon as he steps off the bus!

Big hugs to all you Mom's who are having a tough time with sending the children off to a full day of school. Trust me, you'll be fine after the first day or so!
