Try to get him used to the headphones before going to make sure they aren't an issue. I am working to get my son to like headphones but it is slow going. He had tubes in his ears for years so he always had to wear earplugs for any water activity including baths and he came to hate them. So he is sensitive about anything to do with headphones. I think they are a great idea though! As is the iPod. My son has an iPod touch and it is so nice for him to have (and leave my phone alone since he has thrown it into his pool before . Now I don't need to worry).

I have read a few people saying that they had a hard time with stroller as wheelchair for a double, but if you have to push two kids there is nothing else to do about it! I don't know what ultimately happened for them. Does your son like to sit in a stroller? It was so helpful for my son. There are some fabulous companies to rent from offsite. They deliver the stroller to you resort and pick it up there too. You may want to consider that.

Yes we will start using the earphones soon that is a good point. My sister is giving us her iPod touch so we can put his apps on it too. He doesn't sit in a regular stroller anymore. He sits on the little bench part of the sit and stand and I think it is still like his own little nook- just stinks bc he can't lean back and rest in it. But we are taking mid day breaks so I'm hoping that will help to tolerate the bench. I considered renting a stroller but hate the thought of it when we already have a stroller.

I keep going back and forth! Maybe we should rent!

You are already getting some really great suggestions here and you should surely apply each of them as you think would help your son. I have taken my ASD kiddos twice and the only thing that set them off was the mass flushing of automatic toilets in the bathrooms. Otherwise, it seems like you are worried about what others will think of you if there is a melt down or you use the GAC card- Don't! If you get on lookers or comments from people on either of those things you just tell it like it is- "My child has autism and we are doing our best to give him a magical trip- thanks for your concern." Hang in there- try not to worry- grab up the Disney magic as it works for you and your son!

My son has ASD and I put together a picture book of each park. I copied pictures of each ride with captions for whether the ride would be noisy, fast, dark, etc. I also had to label each with "you must stay seated". I was always worried he would try to stand or jump off each ride. We used the books every night about 2 months prior to the trip. They worked great!! He knew what to expect at each ride and it was the most wonderful trip. His verbal and behavioral skills improved so much from the trip that his teachers said we needed to take him twice a year.
