DS (6) is going to a birthday party for Jesus and his teacher has asked each child to bring a gift. DS is not sure what to bring so we thought we would ask for some suggestions.

Rats...JTB took the words right out of my mouth ;).

Seriously though...are the gifts then going to be turned over to a charity or some other children's organization? Hopefully the gifts ultimate destination will give some clue as to what to bring.

Good luck and let us know.:)

"I hear that gold, frankincense, and myrrh are winners....."

I don't know where to find the above, except for gold, but I don't think that is practical for a six year old. ;)

lilboo, I do not think the "gifts" are going anywhere. When I was told about this I wasn't thinking of a material gift. I was thinking about maybe a picture or an appropriate Bible verse or something creative. I suppose we could buy something, I don't know, that is why we were asking for advice, hoping someone can give us some good ideas.

Maybe he could draw a pic of himself with a red heart (drawn over his own heart of course) saying that he would like to give Jesus his heart for His Birthday with maybe some scripture verse on the bottom like loving the Lord with all of your heart?

When DS (now almost 22) was 5 or 6, his Sunday School class did this. It was done in class & there was no time for input from the parents. The teachers provided magazines from which they could cut pictures, drawing paper, etc. So it was just the "thought" - not actual gifts.

DS decided that the best gift would be himself, so he just put his name on the paper (& about 2 months later he made a public confession of faith.) Then they wrapped the gifts & brought them home to put under the tree. It still goes under our tree every year.

The teachers later told me that some of the other "gifts" were things like peace, a Nintendo game, Star Wars sheets, a favorite Barbie, adopting a brother (from a boy with 4 sisters), milk & cookies . . . but my favorite ;) was the one who wanted to give his older sister!

I love this time of year!

I agree with the red heart. It could be a picture, a heart made out of clay or playdough.

Bobble head Jesus

I have never heard of this before. It is interesting. What to give baby Jesus? Since I believe that He only wants our hearts, that seems like a good answer to me.

If they were doing a mission project, they could do things like for a baby shower and then give them to a place that helps new mother's in need.

However, ratsule, I think the bobblehead Jesus is always inappropriate. Even though I believe that God has a great sense of humor, I doubt He'd appreciate it.

Piratesmate, those are too funny! And I'll have to agree with Buckalew, the Bobble head Jesus just seems a "little" over the top! lol!

How about sort of a "thank you" certificate done up with his best artistry or a "coupon" stating he will pray/read his Bible/ help others etc. ?

I was thinking along the same lines as disykat. People always suggest that kids give their parents coupons for washing dishes, etc. A coupon book for memorizing Bible verses, reading the Bible, tithing, and being nice to others would be nice.

How about a letter written to Jesus written on a scroll tied with a pretty ribbon. The letter could state the things that ds is thankful for. He could also write the things that he hopes Jesus can help us with. Good luck. Let us know what ds decides on.

He could give a smile, to reflect the joy that Jesus bought to the world!

How about the Jesus action figure? It's more tasteful than the bobble head Jesus I think.
