8, 9, 3...if you are using only 3 numbers. A little unclear of the question.
If you need 3 numbers on each side then I have no idea since you would need more than 3 numbers to equal 20....unless you can multiply, subtract or divide the numbers.
I am not sure that I understand your question. But if you have to use the numbers 1-9, with an equation of A+B+C+D=20, and 3 numbers can be repeated...
9+1+8+2=20
7+3+6+4=20
5+5+9+1=20
The 3 repeated numbers in this case would be 5,9,1.
The last 2 numbers in the last equation could also be 8+2, 7+3, or 6+4.
Does this help any? Or am I way off in trying to understand the problem?
Do you mean that it is actually a pyramid - with one number on the first row -- two numbers on the second row -- and three numbers in the third row? Then the numbers on each of the three sides add to 20?
Nope - 1 side of triangle has 1+7+3+9 then we continue down other side 9+4+2+5 then final side has 5+6+8+1 which brings us back to 1
all sides equal 20- lay out the triangle - DH got the answer - thanks guys - sorry but w/out seeing this it is hard to explain
