I know this may have been asked before but...

I am thinking about buying a DS lite for my DD in the States but have heard mixed messages about if the US ones work in the UK.
Has anyone bought one? and was it OK?

Shazmart,

There have been loads of threads about on this one. The machines have no lockout for games bought in our region when the DS Lite is from the states. The only thing you will need is a 2-3 pin conversion plug to charge the unit, i got a couple from ebay for a couple of quid which have been no problems at all. Get as many games from the states as you can as they are so much cheaper. I think last time i visited it was 30$ against £30 but i am sure the price has risen.

Thanks, I knew there would be lots of threads but I couldn't find them, so I guess I should have opened my eyes:rolleyes:

I already have a DS (but DD plays it all the time) so could use the same charger.

No worries, i think no matter what the voltage (110v or 240v) you put into the charger it outputs the same to the DS Lite unit.

Yes they work no problems as everyone else has said.

Also in the US they do different colours than they do over here - we have a black one with a red lid - so you can look a bit cooler than everyone else with their plain black, white or pink (The pink in the US is also a different pink to the one's over here).

We also got a cheap charger from ebay for a couple of £. Work fine.

We got a one from Walmart last year and it works fine, going to get another on this year when we go.:thumbsup2 They are so much cheaper in the US

Ds got one last year too
plays games from over here too
like everyone else got andapter on Ebay but got the car charger in the US for it too

The DS lite has a really good battery life on it as well which is great for the flight, so much better than the PSP.

That price looks really good!!!

We also bought a top up "emergency" charger (gadgets and consoles place on the web) - you put 4 x AAA batteries in it and connect to the charger port and play on.... -lasts many many hours on one set of AAAs and can replace them easily too!!!

Ohh have just been having a gander at the colours over there:lmao:
Might treat myself to one whilst out there:thumbsup2

Ooh that sounds good, my DS ran out on the plane last time :(

Same with the psp in that games work no matter where bought from, and often released earlier in the US too, not that i buy games now i have a better way to get them :goodvibes

Buying from Walmart is a good idea as you can take them back to Asda if they go faulty when you get back.

Im picking up 4 of them next week when I get there, and I fancy one of the Cobalt ones...my CycloDS Evolution is looking forward to a new companion.

We've just bought a DS here for DS - so can we buy US games to play in it??:confused3 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yep - the games work worldwide, that is the joy of it. At the minute seems to be dollars for pounds - so a £30 game is around $30 - One word of caution though, I wouldn't pay much more than $30 for a game out there as you can buy some for round £17 inc postage on ebay - brand new US version games.
Check which games you are interested in on ebay BEFORE you go- then you know if the games are good value or not.

P.s. you can also get some cool stylus designs over there too - (with princesses, disney Cars, Monster's Inc etc..)

Cheers,
Tessa
