He isn't sure what to do for Valentine's Day. While I posted on the Valentines thread that I don't like the holiday - it is kind of cute the way he is acting. He is 17 but this is his first "girlfriend" besides the one in middle school but that doesn't count.

He and his buddies went to Hallmark and he picked out a really nice card for her. He made sure it wasn't too mushy - doesn't say love or anything.

He wants to get her a little gift - not a stuffed animal because he thinks thats too "middle school". I suggested a picture frame, he is thinking something from bath and body works.

I think its sweat that he is putting so much thought into it. It's pretty neat that he is asking for my input too:)

I think it's sweet, too... :)

His FIRST at 17? My son is 10 and I can't count the list!! Luckily the hormones haven't kicked in yet, though, so they're innocent at least! A couple of years from now I'll be sweating it though! :earseek:

sounds like he has the girl thing down, bath and body works has a lot of great things candles, lotions, jewelry is always nice too, he is never too young to realize jewelry is the way to a womans heart;)

Robin, your DS sounds like my younger DS. His hormones are already starting to kick in. He is 12 and I think I'll really have to watch this one.

I think that is so sweet, Cinlee :)

That is so sweet cinlee!!! Sounds like a nice young man and I will agree, the Bath & Body Works sounds like a great idea :)

My DS just turned 17 so I can definitely relate! He sounds like a very thoughtful young man. Best of luck with this new chapter in his life! Annmarie

I love B & B works idea, wish my DH would take lessons,
the only other thought I had was a single flower, ie rose, tulip or carnation etc, very effective yet not too expensive. ;)

Aww, very cute! :jester:
I think she will love anything thats from him!

I'm sure she will be thrilled with anything he gets her! Sounds like he is pretty good at picking out gifts. :)

That's so very sweet. :) :) :)

I'm sure she'll love anything picked out with meaning as well too. :)

Do they have plans for the evening?

They can't go out on Valentine's evening because he has a soccer game:rolleyes: but I think they are going to dinner on Saturday.

This is actually the first real date for them because her parents wouldn't let her go out with him because he is a senior and she is a sophomore - she could go out with sophomores and juniors. They have gone to the movies but her Mom tagged along.

I can't help but feel a little offended that they wouldn't let her go out with him. She is probably much better off with him than a lot of guys in her own grade. Not that I am biased or anything. He is probably the same age as some of them too since he is a very young senior.

I would have to agree with the mother of the girlfriend on this one~ you can never be too careful these days, I am sure your son is a nice young man but this is her daughter and she doesnt know your son very well~ so please dont be offended it is nothing personal Im sure just cautious.Hope they have a great time.

I'll agree with jewerly:) My bf gave me a simple necklace for Christmas and I'm wearing it for sure.I hardly get to see him since we're long distance but tonight will be worth the month it's been since we last were together

(I'm got him a stuffed animal(guy friendly),the soundtrack to Daredevil,a bag of candy and a cute card.I'm also paying for the tickets tonight)

Well he went with the B&B idea. He is also going to pick up a single rose for her.

whirlsy - I do know you can't be too careful about who your DD is dating and I am glad that her parents care - her mom really does like my son. The problem is she lives with her dad he won't even let him call or come over so they can meet him.

I did tell DS when he picks her up Sat. to ask her mom what time she wants her DD home and then make sure he gets her home before that time;)
