I am so angry DS 16 got mugged on the bus tonight at around 8ish, just got back from the police station and reported it, Thankfully he was not injured and all they got away with was money (he had his phone and Ipod on him as well), but what makes me angry more than anything is that no one else on the bus helped him, the 2 boys had been harassing him for some 15/20 mins, DS actually asked another passenger who was sat opposite him to help and he just got up and went and sat elsewhere on the bus  this passenger did not report it to the bus driver. The boys got off the bus before DS and then he rang me and told the driver, I walked and met him at the bus stop, and spoke to the driver who assured me that he had the incident on cctv, but offered DS no help at the time it was happening at all. I AM SO MAD

Sorry to hear about this
sending you both some

OMG that is terrible !! Thank goodness your DS is ok - that is the main thing.

It is a horrible world we live in that a 16 year old boy asks for help and is ignored:confused3 I would be very angry too!

sorry to hear that, glad your son is ok,its awful that nobody on the bus would help.sending you both a

OMG - How awful, but thank goodness your DS is OK

I'm not surprised that you are so angry

That is terrible :sad2: , glad he is ok

OMG that is terrible. At least he isn't hurt though... and still has his Ipod / phone.

I know how he feels - I was mugged walking home from the bus stop a couple of years ago and it does shake you up a bit. Hope his faith in human kindness isn't completely shattered - I can't believe no one helped him! At the very least they could have told the driver... surely he could have chucked them off the bus.

That is awful, just glad that your son isn't hurt in anyway, and for people to not come to his aid and help is bad :sad2

thats very sad :sad2: its shameful that nobody felt able to help your ds as well !!

Thank you all so much for your kindness, DS did not sleep too well last night, but he seems a bit happier this morning. The CID rang this morning and will be coming around with some CCTV footage for him to look at, they want him to avoid using the bus route for a while, unfortunatly this is the route he takes to school. Both boys have to take a minimum of 2 buses and an average 1 hours journey to school, I have told them to make sure that they stay together and we are going to look on the TFL website to see if there is another route they can take.
The PC that we saw last night did make a valid point, that DS does not at 6'6" look like a 16yr old but even so others on the bus could have just informed the driver, but he had no idea until the boys were about to leave the bus when they shouted somethings at DS.

I am going to phone the school tomorrow and speak to his head of year, as it is the only church of England school for miles (infact I think it could be one of the only CofE secondarty schools in Essex) kids travel long distances to get there, so just wanted to warn them and also that if DS takes a different route it could make him a bit late depending on traffic. I am dropping him tomorrow a.m. as he is training at 5.30am so will take him on my way to work.

Thanks again for all your support.

That is sad

I once got harassed on the bus about last year so I would have been about 16, and gladly, I was not mugged, or seriously hurt (however there was some hair pulling and a hard smack round the head). I did report it, however the police did nothing.

I got over it quickly and although this is not as bad as what happened to your DS, I suppose it might help.

That is terrible especially that no-one helped at least he wasn't hurt

Sorry to hear about you DS, I glad he is ok though.

I hope they get who did it too.
