We bought DD (6.5) a DS for Christmas. We got her the Zhu Zhu princess, Scooby Doo and a Mermaid game. The only one she really plays is Zhu Zhu Princess. We are going to visit family soon and I wanted to get a new game for the plane ride. Any suggestions? I've been looking at games on Amazon and reading reviews but I am getting a little overwhelmed!

My DD also received her DS when she was about 6.5 years old. She enjoyed playing: Mario Party, Princess Peach, The Legendary Starfy, Kirby Super Star Ultra & Barbie Fashion Show: Eye for Style. She just turned 8 and still plays these games.

Depends on what your child likes. My DD loves Sonic and Spyro the Dragon. She also likes the Pokemon stuff.

I would suggest, if you have one near you, going to Game Stop and talking to the guys behind the counter. You can get good advice and used games (they guarantee their games) and you can trade in old ones for credit.

another great thing about gamestop, when you buy used games you can return them within 7 days. if the kids don't like them, they go back!

Have you tried anything in the cooking mama series? My son liked them when he was younger.

My 5 & 8 year old daughters love the Petz Dogz (there are a bunch of other animals), Diego Rescue and Lovely Lisa games.

My son is 5. We bought him a DSi for his fifth birthday in October. Of all the games he has, he plays with these the most: Super Mario Bros., Mario Party, Toy Story 3, MarioKart, Bolt and Carnival Games. Also, his grandparents sent him Mario v. Donkey Kong for Valentine's Day and he hasn't put it down since he got it. I agree with a previous poster who said to ask the kids behind the counter at Gamestop. They have given me great advice in the past.

When dd was her age she liked the Disney Princess Jewels, Littlest Pet Shop, and Petz Dogz.

The "Imagine" games are a big hit with my girls. What does she want to be when she grows up? They have all sorts of games: Teacher, Fashion Designer, Veterinarian, Artist, etc.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We don't have a gamestop near us, I wish we did, it sounds like an awesome place to buy games.

We have a game stop near us, and they are great. DS received a DS for his birthday 2 weeks ago. He picked out a game about a week ago, right before the snow storm moved in. When we got home, the game didn't work. The DS just didn't recognize that a game was in the system.

We took it back & exchanged it. Game stop was great!! We have bought several other games there (PS2, PS3, Wii, etc). We also like the fact that we can return games if we don't like them.

So far, DS likes the Transformers game, a Cars game & Phineas & Ferb.

another vote for nintendogs..my DD who is 8 has not put that game down for about a month now..i finally got her to add in Puppy Playtime which she loves...if you find there's a game you think your DD might like check out the reviews on www.ign.com, it will give you a very general idea of how other people rated it

One of the kids got PicCross for Christmas and our entire family is now addicted to the game. It's a brain buster, counting game and you knock out blocks. Starts out with SUPER EASY levels and then you can work your way up.

I don't have game ideas for you as DS is getting his DS today for his Bday! AND I have boys that are into all boys stuff!!! Can't wait to see what games he likes!
But anyway, I thought I'd give you a good site to buy from. I ran across jjgames.com while looking for DS and found it to be really cheap. I was looking for the Brain Age games and got them there for $10 a piece. They had a lot of good games pretty cheap, shipped fast and all went well. Thought since you didn't have a gamestop (which I find terribly expensive anyway) you might be looking for somewhere to find some cheaper games.

Another vote for nintendogs! Both of my kids loved those games. Also, check ebay. I have gotten a lot of games there REALLY cheap. Especially ones without case which are fine for us because we don't keep the cases anyway. :)

My dd (1st grade, 7 yrs old) loves any DS game that involves creating clothes, hair styles, makeup or dress-up. Some I can think of of the top of my head that she plays often are: Lovely Lisa and Friends, Imagine Fashion Stylist, Imagine Teacher, Littlest Pet Shop (there are several), Hello Kitty, Imagine Artist, Barbie Runway Fashion. She also like Mario and Kirby.
