Thanks to all of you who sent prayers and PD. DS unfortunately, didn't get the job. His former employer gave a 'less than glowing' recommendation.
Maybe next time.

I had a job when I was younger and we were informed that legally if someone were to call about a past employee we could only give the dates of employment, and regardless of how poor a worker we thought someone was that information couldn't be shared with another company. This was a pretty big company, so maybe they were just trying to cover themselves.

THanks. I told him he wasn't meant for this job and there would be another one. I feel so badly for him. He did want it so.
Oh well. there is another better one for him somewhere.

By the way, if he really wants to show initiative, he could do some volunteer work while waiting for "the job". That way, he'd have a good recommendation AND some valuable experience.

I'm sorry to hear this. As I write this my DS is at a job interview. He has been out of work for over a month and his bills are piling up. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Hopefully your DS finds something very soon, too.
