DS and I were in a car accident yesterday

Picked DS up from school yesterday and started home. The traffic lights were out all up and down Central Ave. and they had put up 4 way stop signs. We stopped, waited for traffic to pass on Central (we were coming down Main) then it was our turn, we get to the middle of the street and a guy comes barreling down Central, never even slowed down and t-boned us. Saw him coming but it happened so fast there was nothing I could do. Just thankful to be here today. My Explorer is probably totaled. He hit us so hard on the passenger side that they couldn't hardly get my driver side door open. DS and I both had only some soreness though. So thankful we have kept him in a booster seat (he is a small 8 yo at 50 lbs.) though he doesn't like it and his school mates are always asking why he has to ride in a booster. It kept him snuggly in place. When the EMS guy was asking him how if he was okay he said, "yeah, but do you know how to get these warts off my knee?" Only a child!

Our explorer was a 98 model, guess we'll be looking for a new car although I don't know where we will find the money for a new car in our budget. Prayers would be appreciated that God would provide a nice used vehicle for whatever we get out of the explorer if the insurance totals it. Dh is supposed to pick up the police report for me.

Have to say though that the people in our city are some of the nicest around! So many stopped to see if we were okay, one let me use his cell phone to call DH as I don't have one. Several off duty Hamilton Co. rescue stopped to check on us and call for EMS, etc.

I'd never been in an accident before so I was pretty shaken up.

Thanks Chattanoogan's! You are a great bunch of people!

Glad you are both safe. What a scary thing to happen. I sure hope yuo find a good car soon.

I'm glad you are ok. You will probably be more sore today.

I have been reading the boards today and it looks like there are a lot of accidents happening.

Goodness, Cristy...glad you are ok. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Someone was sure looking over you ;)

Thank God you were in a larger car. Getting t-boned in a smaller car could have had much more dire results!!!!!

I have a 98 Explorer XLT that I was thinking about trading in a couple of months ago. Worth about $4500-$5000 as a trade in value. I don't know if insured value is different though.

:grouphug: Glad you are both okay.

Thanks everyone! Yes DisneyDoll, I was glad to be in that big SUV, that is what hit us, another SUV, I told DH if we had been in a small car it would have been worse. The other vehicle was a Nissan Extera (sp?) It messed his car up really bad too. When I called DH I told him I didn't know how bad the car was because I hadn't got out of the car (they kept telling me not to get out). That scared him and he thought I couldn't get out of the car.

I am so thankful that we were able to walk out of the hospital.

 How scary for you and your DS! Glad to hear you both were blessed to escape accident with minor bruising. Good luck w/ins settlement and finding a resonable, depenbable vehicle soon.

Thanks everyone again for all your prayers and well wishes. I am still feeling really nervous and jittery. My head feels really strange, I didn't hit it at all, just feel sort of in a fog.

Am anxious to get a copy of the police report as they whisked me away shortly after the officer asked me what happened. Someone said if they hit you in the front panel they usually site you as pulling in front of the on coming car. This was a 4-way stop sign, I had just pulled off from a complete stop, going about 5 mph when he ran the stop sign slamming in to me. DH said that after I left and the tow truck showed up and he got out that he came over and was apologizing, etc. saying how sorry he was.

This is the first time I have ever been in an accident of this extent. The vehicles were non-drivable and towed to a yard so do they send insurance to evaluate the vehicles there.

Many hugs to you, Cristy! So frightening!
But thank the Lord you and DS are doing "ok".
Please both of you rest up this weekend,
I know from experience that the muscular pain may start
after a few days - not right at the beginning.
The "fog" you spoke of is very common, BTW!

Oh no! Not your sweet little boy who sent me such great stuff in one of the exchanges?! I'm so glad you're both OK! :sunny:

Prayers for you, hope you're feeling ok and that you can find another vehicle soon. :grouphug:

Wow, what an experience. Hope you are feeling okay in the days ahead, and if any aches show up they are small and gone soon. My best.

Glad to hear that you and your little boy are okay! I hope the other driver gets cited though as he could have killed somebody.

Need to go get the rest of the things out of the car today. Will be the first look I'll have at the vehicle. Feeling really strange today. My neck still hurts but not unbearably, my forearms are sore and feel really weak. I can't seem to stop shaking. My head feels really strange, like everything is off balance or crooked. Keep feeling dizzy and sick at my stomach. I didn't hit my head at all but my right ear was hurting after the impact. They checked it out and said it looked fine. Guess it is just nerves.

Thanks again for all your kind words and thoughts.
