I think I am pretty stuck here - but maybe there is something I am missing so I am going to ask - I am planning right now and hope to book the trip this week. If my plans work out our 1st Full Day in the parks will be DS's 8th birthday. I would like to allow him to pick where we eat that day. The problem is DD who will be 6 by then is terrified of characters so character meals are out. Where could I take a boy that would be fun besides a character meal? I don't think there is anything?

How about O'Hana's in the Polynesian? The food is awesome, served family style and they have games and music for the kids. No characters at dinner!

How about Whispering Canyon or Sci Fi Dine In Theatre? My younger brother loved those..and still does :thumbsup2

My kids 8 and 10 liked Sci-Fi and '50s PT (especially since I let them order milk shakes which I NEVER do).

Does WCC still do their schtick? or Hoop De Doo?

Just some thoughts. 1900 Park Fare has face characters during dinner - Cinderella, Step-mother and step-sisters and the Prince - would that work?

Good luck! :)

Never been to Whispering Canyon - do they still do fun things? Would an 8 year old boy enjoy hoop dee doo? He does like silly slap stick type stuff but I don't know what they do there?

What about the Plaza or Beaches and Cream? I can't think of a better way to celebrate a birthday than with one of their sundaes. T-Rex would probably also be fun for an 8 year old boy.

At DHS:

50s Prime Time Cafe
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (although it's dark in there)

At Wilderness Lodge:

Whispering Canyon Cafe (yes they do the schtick)

Hoop Dee Doo would be perfect for slap-stick humor. I was wondering if you considered just a character meal for him (provided another adult can accompany your daughter). Also, he could a pirate cruise from one of the resorts. It's so much fun for the children and a nice respite from them.

Hi - we ate here when my DS turned 6 - the server brought all the children in the restaurant to our table and had them sing happy birthday to him - then she gave him a cupcake with a candle. He loved it. I have heard other stories where the birthday child leads the restaurant in the "Chicken Dance." Of course - you will see lots of other crazy stuff here - trust me - all you have to do is mention that you are thirsty or want ketchup with your meal.

Another non-character option in T-Rex cafe -- no antics - but a lot of dinosaurs

Have fun :goodvibes
