Dryer? How do you get to the spare change?

So we finally decided on a new washer & dryer set. Our old set has alot of spare change that has fallen into it, but we don't know how to get to it? My husband took the front panel off the bottom, but it was empty. This would be spare change that made it's way into the lint filter and maybe under the drum? Can anyone tell me how to get to it? It might just be enough for another trip to Disney!! :lmao::rotfl: Hey a girl can dream, can't she? ;)

ETA: Our lint filter is inside the dryer, right in front of the door, if that helps. Not a lint filter on top of the dryer....

Dang! I never knew that you could do that. Anytime we have ever had change come out of our pockets, we have found it just laying there on the bottom of the washer or dryer.

Sorry, I can't help you, but I'm like the previous poster, how does your change get in there in the first place :confused3. Anything that falls out of the pockets in my dryer, just stays in the dryer.

I hope it's enough change to make it worth your while to take apart the old dryer :).

I don't know how it gets into the lint filter either? But I know it does.... lots of times I see it sitting on top of the filter, but more times than not, it's inside, and when I pull out the screen, down it falls, and I can't get to it! Once in a great while, it balances ever so carefully on the ledge inside where the filter goes, and on a good day I can squeeze my hands inside and get it... and on a bad day it falls inside anyway!! :rotfl2: But I have no idea :confused3 how to get to that part of the dryer. Maybe when we pull it out we can take off the back panel?

I know it's not inside the drum, I never hear it clanking around, but maybe under the drum somehow?

I think if you take off the back panel you should be able to get in under the drum. At least that was the case with my old dryer. . .I wasn't going after change, but looking at the rollers that the drum sits on. They were old and worn and I was trying to figure out if it would be worth replacing them, but I just bought a new dryer instead (that one was 20+ years old:laughing: ).

I'd have to ask my dad, he's an appliance repair man. I remember as kids he used to talk about when he when on a job and took apart washer and dryers, there used to be all kinds of change in them. So I'm assuming you'd have to take the back off maybe?

I second PPs, take the back off. I'd also recommend that you then tip the dryer onto it's back so that it all falls to the back. Since you are replacing and don't care if it survives, give it a couple of good whacks to shake it loose. Since it is falling into the lint screen also check down into the tube that goes out to the vent.

Maybe your dryer gave out because it had so much change in it! If I were you I would start checking the pockets of my clothes before I put them in the new one

Hahahaha Yea I know what you mean! Unfortunately though, my dryer is the one that still works! The washer went kaput on us. But both are over 10 years old and the repairman said replace both, not to fix either.

I am pretty good at checking the pockets but my husband is good at stuffing all kinds of stuff in his pockets, he's in sunroom & window installation so I find all kinds of things in his pockets, drill bits, screws, change, etc.... sometimes I catch it all sometimes I don't! :goodvibes

I had a dryer that the money would fall in the paddles in the drum...if that makes sense. I would push on the side of the paddle until the change fell out. Don't know if that is what you have, but thought I would share. :laundy:

I don't know how to help with the current issue, but I was just going to say that when one breaks, it won't be long before the other one will break, or at least that is my experience :lmao: My washer died at the end of May and the dryer died at the end of July :rotfl2:

I would stick your arm up the dryer vent on the backside. Maybe use a a paint brush or some other small brush to help you clear it all out. If that's where the change is falling, it's going to be there, because that's how the lint gets out.
If it's under the drum, well then you'll probably need to take off the back panel and go hunting for it.

Now would also be a good time to clear out your vent hose in the house. Try sucking it up with a shop vac, and once you can't get any more, put it on reverse. Then blow out the remaining lint. That is if you have a shop vac. It's so easy for those to get clogged up even when you clean the lint filter after every load.
