Dry Dock for Wonder

14 Days it not a lot of time, Paint and minor repairs it sounds like. Not a major overhaul.

After 36 years in the Martitime industry,I am afriad your very wrong.......drydock and paint are a 2 or 3 or maybe 4 day job......14 days means they are planning alot of work.......:thumbsup2

PS I never said a *major overhaul* I said alot of work

We were on the Wonder on the March 20th cruise. I had read about the creaking and paper thin walls and was a little worried. I heard no creaking mid ship deck 2 and didn't hear anything coming from the cabins on either side, so I was pleasantly surprised.

She's doesn't look like a new ship, some may be comparing her to brand new ships they've sailed on recently. I was totally happy though. Would sail on the Wonder again anytime.

Remember the show on one of the cable networks showing the Magic? They ripped out the Mickey Pool, took out a thruster, stripped all the dark outside paint, re upholstered the furniture, pulled up and relaid carpets everywhere. A LOT of work. My husband was a contractor on an old NCL ship, the Prince, they did 15 night dry dock in San Diego, he redid the floor in the outside cafe area. It was really interesting for him, they were on the ship and could not leave, he saw the side of cruising most of us don't and yes, after that he never wanted to cruise again.

It isn't just spring cleaning.

We were on the Wonder on the 3/6 cruise and she looked great to me. No chipped paint, perfect tile in the bathroom. I love the Wonder. It is a beautiful ship. Clayton is the best CD on the line.:thumbsup2

The drydock will be in Victoria.

As for what will be done Disney won't release any of that information. More than likely it will just be routine upkeep of the ship.

They are however going to be changing out the bedding prior to heading to Alaska, so guest will be warm..

We were on the wonder in Jan. and we thought she looked in great shape. All the flooring was perfect no chips and dings. Our stateroom looked like they had put in a brand new modular room. It was fresh and clean no stained fabrics, it was actually the cleanest stateroom we've had in quite some time. We saw no rust or tattered fabrics in the common areas. I'm surprised to read some of the reports about the wonder. This was our first cruise on the wonder, we have taken many cruises on the magic and were not certain we would feel the same about the wonder as we did about the magic. We were very surprised that we thought the wonder was in better condition then the magic, since we feel that the magic is our home away from home. We'll sail on the wonder any time. In fact our next four cruises are booked on the wonder.:laughing::laughing:

We were on the Wonder 3/20 and in November on a b2b as well- I second your thoughts! We thought the Wonder was in great shape, and in the 3 staterooms we had over these 3 cruises not one problem with the room or even scratches, bad tile, nothing. :goodvibes We did feel that overall she looked better than the Magic as well. I think she's prettier.

A CM I talked to said that the sewer smells that have been recently complained about are due to the waste water system changes that had to be made, in order for the Wonder to be compliant with Alaska cruising regulations. She's "greener" now.

Thanks for sharing. Still, there has to be a way to be "green" and not smell like a latrine. :crazy2: It is odd that people report smelling it in some rooms and not others.

I just remembered a couple other things we were told would be changed while in dry dock.

At the entrance to Route 66, the signs say how far it is to St. Louis, Flagstaff and Disneyland. Now, with the Wonder on the west coast, those signs will be changed.

We were also told that the pictures behind guest services (the map with CC and the Bahamas) and Port Adventures would be changed too.

As I mentioned earlier, the Edge is going to have a major redo.
