I am happy dancing here

Drum Corp (DCI) season starts tonight and I will be in Toledo, Ohio for the first show of the season at the Glassbowl! I can't wait. I will also be at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando next weekend for the show there. Later in the summer I will be in Murfreesboro, TN and then attending Finals in Foxboro, MA in August.

Finals will be broadcast on ESPN on Sept 6th!

Any DCI fans on the DIS? Coach Rick, where are you?

GO CADETS!!!

Wow! Our 11 DD is taking drum lessions right now before she enters 6th grade band. Is there a website or schedule we can look at? I would like to surprise her with a trip to see them.

Wahooo!!!! don't you just love DCI?

I marched with the Cavaliers until I broke my knee the first week of the competitive season. Had to be replaced...then they went on to win (the tie) the world championships!

::sigh:: the good old days!

Go Cavies!!!!!

DH was in Drum Corps when we first met! Lots of good memories of those days, riding on the bus, traveling around the midwest, watching parades, sleeping on the gym floors (well, maybe NOT such a good memory LOL)

Loved the 007 show the Cavs did last year. Lucky for me, they will be performing tonight in Toledo!

What year did you march with them. Was it just a few years ago when they tied?

I marched in 2000, broke my knee in mid june...we did machine...tied for first.

My ex-boyfriend as well as one of my good friends both are in Pacific Crest. I enjoy DCI but drum corps season, while I was dating him, meant a summer of only seeing him from the stands at DCI events. ;) They both absolutely love it though!

The dedication of the kids in the corps blows me away sometimes! What a great way to spend the summer, though!

You sound like my brother! He loves, loves, loves Drum Corp! As a matter of fact he just invited my family to come visit him and see Drum Corp July 30th in Indiana. From what I understand their headquarters are there so he's right in the action!

 DCI. Have seen them every year when they play at our stadium at the Red Stick Thunder Competition.

YES!!!! GO on Friday night!!!! I have seen the CADET'S twice this season, once in Toledo and once in Orlando. The show is "surreal" this year and it's going to be a contender this year. They have new uniforms which kind of match the "surreal" theme. The last score they received was 78.450 on 6/25. Cavs are awesome again this year but the dark horse just may be the SCOUTS!

I am going to see them again in Murfreesboro and again at Finals in Foxboro.

We have a drum corp in our town - Jacksonville, Alabama "Spirit". Both my DS's 19 & 16 play drums and we love to go watch them practice. They've thought about trying out, but it's a huge committment, and so far they haven't made that decision.

I love DCI!! I marched with a drum corps right after I graduated from high school (25 years ago). The Suncoast Sound, out of Largo, Florida.

I got to see SPIRIT of JSU this past weekend in Orlando! They have a great show this year. It IS a huge committment but can you imagine the memorie they will carry?

BTW, DCI finals will be broadcast on ESPN2 on Sept. 6 at 9:00 p.m.

I try to, but life keeps interfering!! ;)

www.dci.org Not as good as being there...but it'll do! Don't forget that ESPN2 will carry Finals from Foxboro on Sept 6.

The next show I will be at is in Murfreesboro.

OMG, I thought I was the only Drum Corps nerd on the boards!! I marched in a Drum Corps for 10 years, not at DCI level though, too much of a commitment for a family with 4 kids in Corps. I was captain of our color guard and was able to do flag, rifle and saber, back when the rifles were wood, not fiber glass.

Any way, these days I continue to be a fan of DCI and have a friend who is still involved, he is the visual designer for the cadets and I forget who else, he is obviously very difficult to keep in touch with!

I had plans of seeing tonights show at Giants Stadium, but the weather did not cooperate. Hopefully I will make it to the Eastern Classic in Allentown the first weekend in August. :cheer2:
