DrTomorrow @ WDW - Day 2: Horsing Around

ANNOYANCE ALERT: Mousekeeping knocked on the door at 8:18AM!!! We were already awake, but found this totally unneccesary - check-out time isn't until 11AM, and knocking almost 3 hours before that is simply wrong.
This reminds me that we haven't heard much the past couple years about the early morning "mystery call". Our first couple of DVC trips, we got an early (7:00 a.m.?) call in our room. Both times, when we answered there was no response and a hang up.

It was speculated on these boards that the mystery call was from mousekeeping to see if someone had vacated their room yet. It was extremely annoying and it appears that the practice has stopped as no one has reported this for a few years (hasn't happened to us since 2003 trip).

While it is annoying, keep in mind that the only reason they are doing that is to get an early start to allow other members to check in early (which seems to be a big issue with many) and to get all the villas clean by 4:00. So while trying to please some members at check-in, they may annoy others still sleeping. I agree that it's not a good practice, and we've found the "do not disturb" sign to work pretty well.

I agree...it is an annoyance.

What a treat on a Friday morning to come across the next installment of Dr.T's trip report!! It's everything I expected...wonderfully entertaining and descriptive. You don't happen to have any pictures of the wonderful horse and jockey statue do you? Somehow I missed that on our trip!!

...the new Bibbity Bobbity Boutique...area is set up like a beauty parlor, with multiple alcoves, each with a chair in the center...
Do you think that chair would fit someone, say 6' 1" and around 210 pounds?

You've been listening to way too much cow bell there fella. I think it's scrambled your brains. :rotfl:

Let's see:

dgaston: since we're usually at SSR, there is a Taco Bell in the Crossroads (Goodings) shopping complex near DTD. [checking the map...] It's where Hotel Plaza Drive dead-ends at Apopka-Vineland Rd (SR 535), just north of I-4.

Winn-Dixie card: Yes, it is a 'preferred customer' card that gives you all the current sale prices (you know, Price with Card: $1.99; Price without Card: $3.99). Since they usually have some bottled water 24-packs on sale, and some kind of diet pop, snackies, etc. it really helps. Here's the Winn-Dixie Reward Card link - about halfway down it says 'How to become a W-D card holder' and it specifically says they will mail it to you.

Be well!

Thank you ever so much for that disturbing mental image

Oh, of course it's not for me. It's for my, uh...niece. Yeah, my niece who, uh...has a glandular problem. Yeah, that's the ticket.

BTW, did you notice if they happen to offer a full-body wax?

DR T.

You get Rinkwide and Greenie into the chairs and I will take care of the bill. I can almost picture what a wonderful Belle and Aurora they could make. CDMICKEY can cover the cost of the wax at SSR first. Now thats a picture to put on the signatures and it may even win the $100 prize.

I will have the pleasure of my DD(4) getting a princess makeover in August. We already booked it as a surprise for her and I do believe she will look a lot better than RW and GB but then again Disney is a magical place so you never know.

Dr. T, I'm really enjoying your trip report. With 3 girls I'm sure at some point we'll be spending "a few" moments in the Boutique. We were there the day they opened in March, and just walked around for a few minutes. DD6 was really freaked out by the talking audio- an. girl that is on top of the clothes rack. She couldn't wait to get out of the room. I thought it was funny that she grabbed hold of my arm and wouldn't let go the whole time we walked around in there. Maybe this will save me some money in the long run! ;)
