This will be our first time renting a car and driving to Universal (Studios this year) although we've taken Mears from Disney 3 times.

My mother (70) will be with us and I want to cut her walking as much as possible. She's not in a wheelchair but there are some mobility issues we're dealing with.

Is it possible to drop her somewhere as close as possible and then I can go park and meet up with her. OR are there trams in the parking lot that will get us as close as possible to the entrance? Is there separate parking for Studios and IOA?

Any way to save on her walking/ distance saving tips would be appreciated.

Thanks! Sharon

You will not be able to drop her off in front of the park per say, however there is handicapped parking for you to use if you have the tag to park in those type of spaces anywhere. They are closer to the entrance of Citywalk which is where you would walk through to get to the parks. You will have to walk from that point but once you get to the main gate you can rent a wheel chair. Hope that helps and enjoy your trip.

There is one big parking garage for the entire resort and requires a good deal of walking to reach the parks. No trams, you must walk but there are moving platforms to help speed you along. The closest you could get is the HRH which is near USF.

I'm thinking more along the lines of the passenger drop off at the main parking lot. If coming from Major Blvd, you make a Left before the main parking lot. You go around and drop the person off, and they go up the esclator. Then you ask for a wheel chair. Then you go park while the people watch your relative. I think it can be done. You'll be at the entrance to city walk with a wheel chair and be on your way.

Thanks for your replies.

Robvia, I think your suggestion will work best. Where you're describing might be where we've gotten off and caught the Mear's bus. I know we went right up the escalater then took the people movers to the entrance to city walk. Then went right or left to the two parks. Is that where you're talking about?

I'll try to get some good maps of the area.

I don't know if she'll want to rent a wheelchair or not -- or just go slow.

Thanks for the help...Sharon
