Dropping one person from ADR question?

My Dad has been sick, and we don't know if he will make it on the trip (2 weeks out). At this point it looks like he probably won't.

My question is...

What about all of our ADR's? Do I need to call in and have him dropped from all reservations? If I just show up and tell them we are minus 1, will they charge me for the 1 "no show"?

Thanks!

If the restaurant required a credit card guarantee, then you should call and have the ADR modified when you are certain he is not coming. There have been mixed reports about "no show" fees for partial "no shows" so I would not want to risk being charged if it was something I could have avoided.

I would do this when you know for sure your Dad is not going on the trip. It is usually harder to add someone to an ADR than it is to drop someone.

For those restaurants that do not require a guarantee, you can show up and tell them that you're a smaller party. I've had to do this in the past and there wasn't any problem.

My older brother didn't join the family for most meals while we were there last year. (Difference of touring styles....lol) We just told them when we checked in for dinner that it would be 3 instead of 4. We didn't have ressies at Cindy's or V & A. But I'd recommend you call if you've already put a deposit down for one.

She is referring to the new cancellation policy. Now if you don't cancel outside of the 24 hour window then you have to pay a fee per person.

OP, I would call an say that he is no longer coming. However, I would only do this when you are 100% positive that he won't be coming.

We don't have any actual firsthand reports yet about whether or not a partial party will be charged the no-show fee, so you will probably need to assume they will charge for him if you show up without him. Call WDW-DINE and ask about removing him. If they tell you they can't do it without cancelling the reservation, call back and ask someone else.

At restaurants that don't have credit card guarantees you can just show up with the smaller party.

This does not apply to reservations made before October 26 (except at CRT, dinner shows, California Grill, Akershus, and the Fantasmic dining package). If you made them before October 26 you might as well keep them if they're not at the restaurants previously listed.

Last year I called to drop two people off of our reservations months in advance. When we showed up for dinner, they still had them listed. Like the other poster stated, if you had to secure it via CC I would call. Otherwise I would not.
