dropping off at port: do you wait outside or go through security?

We are a group of 8 going on an April cruise. I have suggested to DH that he drop the party off at the port before returning the rental car. We are quite familiar with the port, but have never done this before. I know we can all wait outside, but we could also go ahead and head into the port. so my question is what will DH need to get inside? just a passport? I have done this so many times and no I can't even remember because I always have everything with me, so i don't really think about it. Is it easier to just wait outside for him to come back and we all enter the same time?

All he needs to enter the terminal is his photo ID. He drops you off at the curb, right in front of the terminal. You all can go on in and find a spot to meet up. He then circles back around the parking structure and off to the rental place. After turning in the car, he catches the shuttle back to the terminal. They drop off just to the side of the terminal building.

Yellow arrow/dots show where you enter the terminal area. You can see the road circles back around to the main road out to the highway.


Then, once he returns you can go check in.
