My DD's (13 and 17) are going to be visiting their father near Orlando next week. They have been to WDW numerous times and know their way around the parks well. Their Dad has to work some the days they will be there and they want him to drop them off at the WDW park of their choice for the day.

Question: Do you have to pay the parking fee to drop someone off either in the parking lot or at the entrance to the park? Is there any other way to get to the parks from off-property except by car? (They have cell phones, so they should be able to get keep in touch with their Dad)

If no one comes up with a better solution, try this. Have dad drop them off at the bus depot at one of the Water Parks. They have bus service to the main parks from the water parks and there is no fee to park there or no guard at the entrance gate. Although next week the water parks probably don't open until 10am.

As far as picking them up in the evening, the girls could take a bus/boat/monorail to the closest resort from the park they are at then take a bus to Downtown Disney and dad could pick them up there.

If it is early enough in the evening and the water parks are still open, they could take a bus back to a water park.

As long as the girls have park hoppers, then there should be no problem with using the Disney transportation.

Better yet, if they have Annual Passes, there is no charge for parking at any of the four main theme parks.

At the very worst, the parking fee is 7 or 8 per day, and only has to be paid once per day.

Their father might just drop them off at a resort near the park. He could even park and have breakfast with them. Contemporary for MK or Boardwalk area for MGM/EPCOT.

He could either pick them up at a resort or perhaps meet them in DTD. The kids would have to take a DTD bus from a resort.

One time DH had a friend drop him off at the MK. They didn't have to pay. He just went up to handicapped parking and dropped him off there and then left. I met him at the park, so he didn't have to worry about getting a ride back. When DH gets home from work, I'll get some specifics!

This was probably about two years ago.
