We live locally and this will be our first cruise. I was hoping my parents could drop us off and see us off (like at the airport). However, I read somewhere that non-passengers can't enter the terminal. Is this true? Are they allowed in the parking lot? What is the best way of being dropped off? Or should we just take a shuttle?

drop off is very easy. You can pull into the parking area where porters will take your bags then you just walk into the terminal. No visitors are allowed. Just be aware of not going into the parking area just drive around to the terminal itself.

My Mom dropped us off at the port with no problems. You just follow the signs when you enter and the drop off spot is right in front.

They will not be able to stay in the area but there is a great viewing area directly across from the ship (port side) and the parking fees there are minimal (I think first hour is free).

They can also drive down to Port 'O Call (a little shopping/restaurant district) and see the ship as it pulls away. Although depending on your port arrival time, that could be a long wait for them. But they could definitely drive around and park on the other side (near the Lane Victory) to wave to you once you are on the ship.
