Drop in BA CW fares

Yes about to book and will either travel CW into Tampa with BA or UC into Miami with Virgin

With Upper class they have the herringbone seats so you can only really sit opposite or behind each other.

With BA you could sit all 4 of you across the middle of the aircraft if you wanted.

It's really your personal choice.

Just returned BA from Tampa, Club class and configuration is 2 either side of the cabin herringbone style as stated above (which we like as a couple as it's very easy to talk to each other) plus 4 in the middle with the outer ones facing in the opposite direction to the middle 2. I hope that makes sense; ie the only 2 seats that are side-by-side in the whole cabin are the middle ones of the centre 4.

Hi Nemmie, we finally took the plunge and booked Do you have a link to the lay out of the seating - there are 7 of us and no idea which seats to choose.

We have to be aware though, the experts tell me that they also have a slightly diff version of this aircraft that has a row 5 also. When I booked our seats online it took me to a seat map which SHOULD be accurate but of course there is a disclaimer to say may change for operational reasons.

We booked seats 11A and 11B because hubby wants a window seat but does not want to step over someone to get to the aisle so that last row (11) means that he can have exactly that.

Thanks thats perfect - We spoke to BA yesterday, our daughter is special needs so we can choose our seats, it was late last night when we spoke to them and the lady who is dealing with it isnt in today so she promised to call back first thing tomorrow so we can choose seats and sort a couple of other things out. Will have a study of that and see which we think is best . I must make sure i book a forward facing seat for me.

LOL, afraid I don't have any pics - it just wouldn't occur to me to take any.

I've travelled in Club World many times; twice in the last 6 months (Phoenix and Tampa) - mainly because I've got a good price and like a flatbed on the return journey. The service is good IMO but then I'm equally happy with service in Virgin's PE (never tried their Upper Class) as is the food. I'm not keen on alcohol but I read a report recently which said that BA had one of the best airline selections and DH would probably agree . I do normally have a champagne drink before my meal though. Entertainment system is the on-demand type and enough choice of films to suit me.

Check in was easy both ends and we had done OLCI. Luggage was tagged with Priority labels which actually worked.

The business lounges at both ends were also fine. On our outward journey got seats overlooking the runway and acres of snow beyond. Because of snow we had allowed ourselves plenty of time and there were plenty of breakfast items out when we arrived and before we left the lounge they were putting out lunch items - sandwiches, salads, soups and I think, pasta. Plus there are always ample drinks available, cake, biscuits, crisps, fruit etc. At Tampa it is a shared international business lounge with less substantial food items but it was okay. Orlando is the same from memory.

Best of all for us though, BA's long term punctuality record is far better than Virgin's - although you can be unlucky with either.

I'd say your seat choice was good. We had 2AB out and 3AB back with DH in window seat. He's tall and climbing over someone's legs doesn't bother him.

Thanks so much! We flew Virgin 4 times last year and were delayed each time (twice over 2 hours ) so it would be nice to travel with a more punctual airline.
We are trying BA CW for the 1st time ever in Sept if it lives up to Virgins Upper I think we will be switching airlines as BA's Flying Club is IMO far superior as are the reward's via the BA Amex card.
It's sad because we have been flying Virgin for over 10 years but with the declining service on all sectors for us, a change is as good as the rest.

Very cool! Yep the people on Flyer Talk really know what they are talking about! I know everything I can about Virgin but am just starting to get my head around everything with BA lol.

This is why we have had so many BA Club World flights - at least 6 (pairs of tickets) of CW returns in last 10 years have been 'free' (except for taxes), although I have paid for some too.

I did try Virgin's cc a few years ago and IMO, their scheme is not nearly so good.

That was my take on it too. I should have made clear in my previous post that I was referring to 6 pairs (cardholder plus companion) of free Club World tickets with BA and so I have amended it.

The best biggest mistake we ever made "trying" PE/UC with Virgin. We've never flown any other way since and that was 5 years ago.

Now however looking at this October's flight prices I wish I'd never bothered

Just to let you know after to-ing and fro-ing with me and having to provide screen shots of Netflights fare and their fare rule page, BA are going to honor the price promise and refund me the difference between the two
