Has anyone shipped their droid back home? Is it possible directly from the Depot? We’d like to carry them around during the day and then ship back at the end of the evening.

we could also drive to a UPS store or ship from the resort. What works best??

I shipped 2 earlier this month. I did it from our resort hotel shop 2 days after we purchased them. It's my understanding that you can ship anything bought from a Disney shop at any other Disney shop at any time. So, you could walk all over HS with them and be at the front entrance of the park and take them into one of those shops. Or, play with them at your resort during the trip and ship them the day before you went home or morning of, if you have time, from your resort shop.

They were at our house in 5 business days, too, which was awesome. Got there just a couple days after we got home.

Yes, you can ship from the store. There is a little store attached to the depot. That is where you are shipping from. One thing I did learn is Disney will ship anything you bought on property that you still have the receipt for for a flat rate of $40. Doesn’t matter if 1 thing or 100 things. My advice if staying on property is on check out morning go to the gift shop and ship everything home. If it breaks in transit Disney will replace for free.

Not sure the shipping cost information you received was accurate or outdated, but I shipped 2 droids home for $17.

the tiered structure I was told about is similar to the one on this page under the shipping and handling section:

That is great news - thank you everyone.

We just shipped two droids with the upgraded package of personality chips and backpacks for $32 total from our resort. It was greats for kids to get two extra days to play with them here at resort vs shipping from Droid Depot.

Insurance on everything was included. They did say it would take 10-15 days and the tracking system is slow to update. CM said she waited on hold for 45 mins the other night to check on a package 😲

How are they holding up/interacting at home? I am try to do ALL the research, as I am considering a BB and R2. Thanks so much! I am thinking about shipping them, also.

I've enjoyed having them around. We don't play with them all that much, but I'd like to see about getting them outside more.

The bb8 is slightly annoying as you have to open him up to get to the on/off switch. It seems like once they go to sleep, you have to turn them off then back on to get them to respond, so the R series is better for that. Also, it's a good idea to just shut them off when you're done anyway to save battery life.

Thanks so much! I wasn't sure how much the two would interact with each other. :) I appreciate you taking time to respond!

They do seem to talk to each other. It is kind of interesting. Not really sure if it’s us pushing buttons or them acknowledging the other is around. I have heard others say that their 2 droids would interact too much, draining the batteries just talking back and forth and keeping each other awake. I didn’t notice it being that bad for ours though.

also, I didn’t think about add ons until I got home and found the only place to buy them is eBay for double or triple the droid depot cost, so if you think you may want add ons, just get them while you’re there. I guess youcould always resell them if you change your mind later 🤣

Add ons? We will pretend we didn't see them. No, but seriously, thank you for that. Guess we will have to check them out!

You probably could get by them without noticing them. They only take up a small portion of the shop by the exit, so if everyone is excited about their new droid and distracted as you head out, no one will notice the add ons. 🤣🤣

My kids don't play with them as much at home either but they have held up well and batteries have lasted. I bought some different personality chips from Disney online when they were having a free shipping code. I'm not sure if there are other accessories besides the personality chips. BB8 is definitely harder to turn off/on and also to steer. I'd definitely recommend R2D2 for younger kids and ease of use.

Also the two droids do interact with each other, although it isn't constant. The personalities seem to affect it as well. Resistance/First Order combo seems to produce the most interaction.
