OK so I broke down and got the Droid Eris!! Forcing myself to use touch. I need help!! I got this one now, but on April 29th, I will get the next Droid Eris they have coming out. I went to Best Buy and the guy was all techy and knew his stuff! He said the new one has two things- 1. the fastest processor a cell has to date! 2. a 8.0 camera !! So I will get that one using my upgrade on the 29th. But am getting used to ALL touch now. I have never had touch anything so I am struggling!

Buyer beware!! Prices!!!!
I want to make sure you all realize that when you look for a new phone, at least with Verizon, you should check Best Buy first, then VZ online , then store. I have always found Best Buy to be BEST price! Every time. This phone was 29.99 at Best Buy, but 79.99 at VZ online, both with my new 2 yr discount. Best Buy can transfer you files FREE too (as can a store) But Best Buy does instant rebate, as does VZ online, but the store is rebate via mail :( Why pay up front???) AND if you have a family plan, you can use someone elses upgrade on the account and then change the tel numbers back right then. I do it all the time and Best Buy or the store can do no extra charge. I am the "go to" person when anyone gets a new phone, they call me... been doing it forever!! lol I learned tricks!

Ok so my questions..

1. I cant get this touch text down at all :( I hate it!! Will I get better at it?? Any hints?? I am a crazy texter so this is making me nuts! :headache:

2. I must have my text alert a ringtone!! I cant find the option!! Where is it?? ARGG!! (it took the machine 45 mins to transfer my sounds/pics, so I have plenty)

3. How do I lock a text?? I cant find that either and I like to save some at times.

4. Apps... havent had time to check them yet... what are good Disney ones??

5. Any website for hints on the phone?? The book stinks!! I need help learning this thing!!

Thanks guys!! I am so lost with a new phone!!!!

ok well I just got the droid so I'll try to help

1. Txting on the touch you just get good at after a while. I had the iphone briefly so I got pretty good at it there. I actually find I'm more efficient on the droid. I don't really have any tips, you just gotta get good at it. the nice thing is it learns your shortcuts so that is cool, just like the iphone does

2. from the messaging screen where you see all your conversations, press the menu softkey and go to settings. Once u do that, you scroll down and there is an option for select ringtone.

3.not sure on this. Lock a txt? Like save a common txt that you send? I am not sure how to do that

4. Haven't found a lot in the way of disney apps yet. I want to get the official one, but haven't looked into getting it yet. I have, however, found some fun other apps. One with a bunch of drink recipes, one that lets you chop a song down and then create a ringtone from it, one that has nutritional facts for popular places to eat, good stuff!

5. Just search google for droid manual and you can find the complete manual. I had to look it up for bluetooth help last night.

Thanks!! I found out the text ringtone is an app- sound board.. and its under notifications.

I am trying to text and get used to it.. but yikes its hard!

Yes, I can save as draft to resend... like I send a countdown text I made for our trip, I change the number of days and send it to my boyfriend everyday :)

Locking a text, the old phones let you lock a text, so it wont delete when you hit delete all. I cant find that on this phone.

I love the phone.. just need time to play I guess.

OP, have you figured out how to choose your ringer (for texts) for your Droid? I think I have an answer to your 'lock a text' question. Hit message>touch the menu button>touch settings and the top one says, 'Delete Old messages'. Unclick it maybe??

Then, you might want to look at the line, 'Multimedia message' in the same drop down menu. Not sure if you can change the 20 msg. limit.

Did you find the Notifications settings (below the MMS menu) for the ring or vibrate notification ? Check there too for what you are looking for.

I've had my Droid for three days now and so far love it. I agree, the touch screen is very sensitive. I too am adjusting to how to handle the phone. My Verizon guy gave me some websites to investigate to get more information regarding the phone's capabilities etc. Here they are:

www. vzw. com/data (Choose MotoDroid as your device)
www. Motorola .com (Search for your model)
www. Android .com
www. google .com/Android

NO SPACES type the information as normal in your search bar or delete the spaces of the sites listed above.

I guess we Droid users can learn together how to use our units. Awesome!
