Hey all- new to disboards and first post :)

Throwing a question out there.........

How is it to drive to Florida (from New York)? There is only one driver in the car and an overnight stop somewhere is a given.

Was just wondering what you all think- also I'm trying to find a route there which would avoid Washington traffic, any thoughts?

I've driven alone with my 2 girls 3 times now because DH didn't have any time off. The first time we went down 95 and it took 21 hours. The last 2 times we went the inland route and it was about 19 hours and a lot less stressful drive. It avoids all the New York, Washington, and VA traffic.

This is a great thread for information and advice:

do a search and you'll find numerous past threads on both topics (route choices and driving pros and cons). Personally, we drove ONCE :drive: from NW Illinois to WDW--23 hours--because of the frustration with Ohare/Orlando International and DH thought it would be neat! So not neat:scared:Figure the arrival day as a catch up day for rest and stay around the resort. We also never touched the van the entire length of stay because we had always used disney buses and weren't about to drive around Orlando ourselves. I can't imagine ever doing it again and DH totally agreed. We've since used a smaller regional airport and fly Allegient into Sanford for a stressless experience.
